Yeah, my dad's a mechanic so we took it to the guy's that do the alignment on all the cars they work on. So he got it for what the would charge my dad's shop. Then my dad's shop rapes him on the price... lol
They did real well at 2" drop but now they seem a little harsh. I may have to get some adjustables. I ordered them through Advanced Auto Parts here in Naples. They cost me 78 each, which was the same as getting them online and paying for shipping!
man that looks really nice with those rims. now i have an idea of how mine is going to look once i get my rims next month. i was trying to see how the truck would llook with 17's or 18's, but i think i am going to get 17" mustang bullet rims just cuz it is a rough enough ride now. thanks for the pics.
Thanks. I had to level the drivers front side yesterday. There was about an 1/2" difference from the passenger side. Also, I looked under the truck and I already blew the front drivers shock. I searched online and found the Doetsch Tech Nitro Slammer shocks for $39.95 each. They are made for Explorers that are lowered 4" in front. The model number is 4069G. The back shocks are ok because the back lowering doesn't affect the shock travel length. It looks to me like the front shocks are completely bottomed out!
I can't believe how popular this thread became! Thanks for all the kind words about my write up, and I am excited to see so many of you going through with this. I apologize for the techincal difficulties with the pics, my host site is rebelling or something. If you absolutely must have the pics now feel free to email me. I try to check it about once a day, but things are pretty crazy around here lately so don't be offended if it takes me a couple of days to reply.
Bill, your X looks awsome, I love it! The new lines and those wheels along with the drop work very well together.
Thought you guys might like to know that I broke down and ordered some 18x8.5" wheels and they should be in by this weekend. I plan to put them on saturday and then drop it another inch or two. Count on pics when this happens. I'm also thinking about removing the molding and (once I get my new place with a garage) shaving the doorhandles, gas door, and roof rack (this will of corse lead to a new paint job)...and possibly an adjustable suspension. That's all I'm going to say for now. I just wanted to update all of you on the workings of an ex-minitruckers mind.
Glad to see your still breathing. Let us know how the "adjustable suspension" works out. I am leaning toward bagging but I'm not sure if I want to spend the cash. I have enough contacts to get help doing it, but I don't know how to weld. A friend of mine put rods on his Honda yesterday and I'm turning into a hater(J/K).
great looking trucks guys! i too took the plunge (2 weeks ago) and put on monroe reflex shocks. i haven't had time to get pics up, but will soon. i still haven't seen anyone post the alignment specs though. just wondering what they are as i am definitely going to have to have it done soon.
with the help of a mechanic friend, we put the x up on the lift (which made things oh so much easier!) and did all the work. i went ahead and bought the camber adjusters at napa and we installed them too. that alone has been a major help. so far, it's riding pretty good, handles much better, and i'm very happy! thanks for all the documentation godfather.

Bill, fine looking truck. Not sure where your gas tank is located on your model, but if it's on the left passenger side like my '99 Sport, a full gas tank will cause the right front to measure differently than it would with an empty tank. Just a thought.
I want to lower my 93 but dont know if all this stuff will work on the 1st gens. does anyone know? Ive got the blocks to lower it but dont know how to install em. Id like to get airbags but noone in south carolina will do it. HELP
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that most of the 1st gen Xs have I-beam front suspensions. Get you a set of dropped beams and maby some dropped coils, and you are set. It's not hard to do if you take your time and pay atention to how everything came off (funny how everything seems to go back on the same way it came off). I suggest staying away from the "Dream Beams" as they are not the best product. I know alot of people with rangers that have had them bend or break on them. The rear may need a "flip kit" to move the axle to the top of the leaf springs. Again I'm not sure about this as I have not worked on a 1st gen X. I have done a few rangers though and that is what was needed for them. You mentioned bags....if you have beams and can't find someone to do it for you or to help you do it...forget it. I have done a ranger with beams. We got it to lay frame but the front was a PITA to get right. I still think it needs work, but the owner was happy and that is all that matters.
Good luck with your X, and let us know if you have any more questions.
Do you know anything about "AirWave" bags? They are supposed to be both bags and shocks. I was thinking that if that is the case I could replace my torsion bars with them. The only thing I would have to do is have custom shock mounts made to accomodate them. Of course there is the pump, tank and fittings, etc...
