Well theres a HS Advanced autos event this weekend in KCMO. Its going to be the first time I think I'm going to take the Explorer to race. I'm not going in with expectations to dominate or get embarrassed really just to have a good time. But I've never done this so what's the best way to accelerate. It's a 2000 AWD 5.0 with K&N filter Still STOCK box with the Flowmaster I believe its the SUV 50 series (Ordered off Summit Racing). But is the best way to accelerate to gain the best start is to mash it off the line or another way like half gas to a certain speed than floor it? Any tips would be appreciated and maybe I'll test these on the freeway before hand. The event is on sunday.

as the yellow lights show you are staged--rev the engine and old the brakes against it--try to hold about 2500 rpms sitting still-
when the light goes green, floor it, and let off the brakes--

do that, but as ther second yellow goes on, let off the gas and mash the pedal. you wont red light, i promise.

Hmmm sounds nice. Hopefully I'll be able to beat a few ricers out there if not the least. lol I know the 5.0 isn't going to be the slowest out there for sure. Also I do plan on if this goes well going down there more often. But I'm gonna hold off till I can get a MAC Air intake then go back. Then go back a third time when I can hopefully get some Torque Monster Headers then my Explorer should be complete Performance wise for me anyways.

Make sure you go around the water pit, then just idle up to the line, The 2 top most yellow lights will come on, first the top one, then a few inches later the 2nd one will light, as soon as it lights stop. Then when the big yellow lights light up start to rev the motor, the brakes probably won't hold more than about 2200rpm, but you'll have to check. Then when the last yellow light (just above the green) lights then let off the brake and put the pedal to the floor and hold it there until your all the way down the track. You'll probably run somewhere around 17 seconds, 80mph. Good luck, and have fun.

Thanks alot for the tips of advice I appreciate it alot. I'm pretty pumped, lol I bet there is going to be a big surge of adrenaline though for the first couple of races.

The first couple? It's always there:D I've made around 40 passes, and it's always a pretty good rush.

yeah good point I guess it depend on how many ppl's watching lol. I was only guessing because I usually relax after doing a high thrill thing several times. I just want to beat a Riced out Honda off the line and in the long run and I'll go home happy.:D ;)

Doesn't this put a lot of stress on the drivetrain?

I've been thinking about trying this, but doesn't it do damage with an AWD setup?
all u do is hold the breaks, rev to 2500, floor it n let off the gas at the same time?
