so today we got an insane rain storm, and i know a spot where the road dips down so you can go under a bridge, and it floods there every time. so today i decided to go down there and check it out, as i pulled up there was an old guy in a mini van stuck in the middle, his engine was flooded. i pulled up beside him and asked if he needed help, he asked me to push him out so i did. then i pulled out of the water and sat on the side of the road watching how people reacted to the deep water and seeing who went through and who turned around, it was rather amusing. so, this guy driving an f550 super duty city truck comes up to it and doesnt even slow down, makes it to the deepest point and he hydrolocks the engine. again, i lend a hand, got out my tow strap and hooked him up and pulled him into a nearby parking lot. a few minutes later it stoped raining and the storm drains quickly took care of the water so i went on my way.

now, while i was helping this guy out the water was very deep, i know this because as i was driving up next to him to see if he wanted help i quickly realised my shoes were wet.....yea....my car had a good inch or so of water inside. when i pulled out and opened the doors it poured out for a while......

anyways, didnt think anything of it till i got home and tried to put all my windows up bc it was starting to rain again. well.....3 out of 4 went up. my drivers door is not functional. when i press the down button i can hear something click under the dash, sounds like a relay behind the stereo area. when i push up it does not make this noise. so far i have removed the seats, center console and the carpet. i used a shop vac to get all the water out and i pulled the wires up and out of the little channels on the sides
(which were completely full of water). now it is sitting in the garage with the doors open and a box fan going. i am going to let it sit like that for a while. probably a good 24 hours. i have also unplugged my battery.

i am wondering if anyone has suggestions, or an opinion about what could be wrong. also i am wondering how i can test to see where i am and am not getting power. i would like to test to check for power to the window motor, if there is none there i am wondering if a direct 12 volt line to it could be used to get the window up till i can figure the rest out?

im not to sure, just i would take the connector off the window motor/window switch and see if you get power to it, if not replace/check the fuses and relays.

take the switch cluster out of the door, stick your test light into the back of the window switch and see if there is power at least to the switch.

how do i test a relay

well, i unplugged the window motor to test for power there, didnt have a test light or a voltmeter so i just hooked up a little motor i had, anyways.....it worked just fine up and down, so i plugged the window motor back into and it works now....there must be some type of short circuit safety cutoff or something. anyways, its fixed.

thanks
