Got a ticket for my lights

Everyone is right, I did law enforcement in california for 4 years, and unless the law has changed in the past 2 years any lights that are higher than OEM lights have to be covered.

Really? Mine's placed below the OEM lights. Alec, where did you get those lights? It'd be a lot easier than lugging my huge flashlight everywhere.

you know california requires a front tag, yet you took it off or didn't put it on. was that the cops 'bad' or yours?

i think being a cop would be a suck job. people always bashing you, but if you ever need help WHO would you want to see pull up?

i don't agree with you being stopped about your lights [if that was really why he pulled you over].
were they on?

you sound like you're pretty young. that is not a put down and doesn't make you bad.
there is a lot to say for experience.

the old "do unto others" thought doesn't hurt either when dealing with police. yes sir, no sir can go a long way as well.

i've been pulled over enough and let go to lose my license till im 25. the one time i have to drive home drinkin and drivin i got pulled over for going 7 over, figures a 1/4 mile from my house. he let me off and explained the consequences.

i've also gotten pulled over for other stupid sh*t,
i've gotten accused for stealing from a shoe store n gotten stopped in the parking lot... ha by the same copy that pulled me over the week before drinking and driving.... and he threw me around n cussed the hell outta me so i was being a dick back since he was accusing me of something i didnt do.

impeeding traffic (cutting through a parking lot instead of waiting in a 1/4 mile long left hand turning lane full of old people moving one car everytime the light turned green --- $110)

Texas has all their vehicle laws online, through texas.gov.

Is it true that if i am being followed by a cop from my city and im say 1/4 mile from the city limits and i gun it and take off out of the city and as soon as i hit the next city i can just slow down back to the speed limit and there is nothing the cop can do about it? he would be out of juristiction to file a speeding ticket against me and even if he called for a cop of the city i enter then they would have to see me commit the crime and he has no juristiction to hodl me until the other cop arrives because inless he has intent to charge me(which he cant do in a diff. city) then he cant even hold me so I can drive away? that is what I was told. That sound right?

Many neighboring police depts have agreements where they can give people tickets, arrest people, etc; just a member of the native jurisdiction has to be present.

IMO that would be just plain stupid.

Well I live in Arlington, Virginia, hey "HYDROXY" maybe we should meet sometime since you live in Fairfax, but anyway my point is that, I got a ticket for not having my front license, I had a Chrome Ford logo Plate and I the State police (which they're the pain in the butt ones), caught that and I also had black tinted headlight covers. I was pissed, $100 fine for both offenses, I was so mad that I just wanted to yell at the cop. But I did learn my lesson though, instead I personalized my license plate and now I don't have to be taking off my license plate off since it's personalized, no more *****y cops at me no more. Also I got rid of the headlight covers since clear corners look much better, no more popo at you.

This is the proper way to do it. If you know something is against the law and you do it anyway, no matter how stupid the law seems, don't be surprised when you get a citation.

Doc, I'd have to disagree with that last one. Bad pilots have a nasty way of weeding themselves out of the gene pool by the time they're making a career out of it. The consequences of a bad day at work are a bit more severe for pilots.

Then again, those guys from America West that were arrested/fired for flying drunk back up my example. They both had been flying for quite a while, and apparently this was not the first time it happened.

no they can chase you a mile into the other city then they have to call back up--- which they would probably give the officer permission to keep following you . once you get out of the city and into the different city if the cop is still behind you , you can do whatever just hop that he doesn't radio it in and there is a cop near by lol...

Yep, if a cop is in pursuit, chances are that he will continue pursuing you, even throug state lines if necessary. At some point the new state will start cahsing you and then it becmes a interstate crime spree and you show up on CNN Headline News. The whole juresdiction thing is merely a reference, in a pursuit, they rarely stop because they cross an imaginary line. Only thing is that once they spin your car and get you out, you'll be arrested by a cop from whichever city you're in. Or a sheriff or state trooper.

Well, actually they're just stupid pilots, not bad pilots. They never killed anyone, to my knowledge. I don't care if my plumber or waiter or doctor or pilot is loaded, just as long as he/she does their job in a safe, effective manner. Good luck finding a person who can do both, though.

The stupid pilots were fired for violating FAR's, not for being bad pilots. As the saying goes..."There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are NO old, bold pilots."
