Bought it from Bones off eBay. Brand new in the box eom set with everything included (or so they say). I'm going to tackle this tomorrow. Anyone do this before? any secrets to this? I'm thinking about using a stock switch instead of the aux switch.

We got the same kit for ours. If you need any help, I'll see what I can do. I know we couldn't find the high beam wire, so we just went up to the bulb and spiced of the hot wire for it. Hope you have a test light :D

I might need some help. The directions looked pretty weak. Are you running them independently of the low beams or do the fogs come on when the low beams are turned on? Did you bypass so they run with the hight beams as well?
Several years back I modified my Maxima fog lights. From memory, I ran ran a wire from the parking lights into the fog light relay so you could run them with the parking lights and with the high beams. I'd like to do the same here.

Just take your time. You can do it. I also agree with your idea to not use the switch that is supplied and going to the stock look by using a switch from the factory installs. All you need to do is find a bezel at a junkyard and use that. I have a 3 switch set-up for factory bezel sitting in a drawer as a back-up, LOL. Never know when you are going to need one. Good luck.

Personaly, I like the fogs to be able to come on independent of the lights. I usually hook the switch power wire to the w/s wiper wire. That way they can be on at any time and always off when you turn off the key.

You have to get a new headlight knob if you want to use a "stock" switch. With the new ones, to activate the fogs you have to have the headlight knob in the auto, parking, or headlight mode and pull the knob out. Use the switch that came with it and mount it down low. I don't have the time now, but when I do I'll take a pic of where we mounted ours.

Got the lights mounted today. But after some thought, I've decided I want the fogs to come on with the low beams using the stock switch.

The reason is, it's my wifes truck and I know she'll be too lazy or forgetful to turn on the fogs if she has to pull or turn a seperate switch. The whole reason for doing this is to get her more light on the road because she frequently drives at night. If it were mine, I'd run them independently. oh well.

So, with that said, how can I do this. Can I just tap into the existing switch? Do I still need the relays? Seaking of which, can't I just install a relay intot he fuse box under teh hood? I noticed #49 or something was the fog relay if applicable. Of course there isn't one there.

If you do it the way the instructions say, they will work perfectly. They are designed to work with parking and low beam, and will turn off with high beam. This is the way it comes if they were from the factory. Just follow the instructions, you're making this harder than it has to be!

Ok, but how do I bypass the switch? I don't want the aux switch. I wan the headlight switch to turn on the fogs the same time the headlights are turned on. Do I just take the wires going to the switch and tap into the stock headlight switch?

Take the wire that goes from the switch to the relay & connect that to the parking lights wire. Simply eliminate the switch. Then whenever the parking lights are on the fogs will be also.
Look at the diagram in the FAQ. Wiring should be the same as you have. No need to do anything with the factory relays or headlight switch.

ok, bare with me (I know I'm slow with this).
Part 210-2271 (harness 1) runs from from each of the two fogs into Part 203-6895 (harness 2). This is done via a three wire connector (red,black,tan/orange). Really these three wires are all I need to run to the switch? The red is hot which would tap into the parking lights. Black is ground. Not sure what the tan/orange would go to? So in essence, an entire portion of harness two (with relays) is not needed. I just forget the relays.
???

I believe the second relay/harness is for turning the fogs off when the high beams turn on. I'd check where you get your truck inspected, it might be required that they turn off when the high beams turn on. Other than that, I don't belive its needed.

wiring diagrams

I'm also interested in wiring fogs and I can't seem to find anything about "wiring", "diagrams" or "fogs" when searching the FAQ as Bill Kemp suggested. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

At the top of this page just two posts above this one now is a Lighting FAQ section.
Got links & pics and other good stuff.

Got it working. However, I didn't use one wire which I couldn't find. The diagram says to look for a green/black wire off the dimmer switch. None there. So the end result is the lights just don't automatically turn off when the high beams come on...which is fine with me. I can turn the switch off when it's time to go to the DMV. Thanks for all your help.
