Got my windows tinted today!!! Check it out (4 pictures) updated 4/19

Hey guys. I finally decided to get my windows tinted today. The shop did a really good job and it was only $50. I love the job. Tell me what y'all think! I think it mathces pretty close.

All these pictures were taken here at school in Myrtle Beach, SC. Could anyone ask for a better place to go to college?


Finally got time to day to give the truck a good wash and get the rims shining. This is the final CLEAN product after tint.

Here's an idea.... what mod should I do next... Grille insert with clear corners? Any ideas?

Yeah, stock tint is 17% and that is 27% (needs to be legal in South Carolina ) and you cant even tell the difference. It looks even better in person.

how for only 50? isn't that way too little?

Well mine was 50 bucks too...for 30% (darkest I could get legally) on the two front windows. I was thinking the limit in SC was 35% since that's what my brother got on his truck about a year ago, but I guess it's changed since then. Anyways, lookin' good.

Now the legal limit is 20% i think. I only got the front two done which made it $50. If anybody is in the Myrtle Beach area, this shop was a great place to go. Lifetime Warranty against EVERYTHING. Peeling, fading, cracking. And it is an awesome tint. It is not like that crap at Walmart. It is made entirely of metal! It was an Infinity Gold Series tint. It is the best job of seen done on an explorer. Other explorers here at school have the front two tinted and they look horrible. You just have to go to alot of different shops and get different input. Eventually you'll find a place who really what they are doing and it will match perfect.

Looks like a great job. Nice landscaping too. I need to find out what the tint laws are in CA.

Unfortunatly the tint laws in CA are not in our favor. CA says no tint on the front windows. I guess this is for the PO PO's protection. I have mine 20% in the front, and 17% in the back. Laws are made to be broken as far as I am concerned. I find the benefits of the tint far out way the cost of a fix-a-ticket. So give me a ticket Punks!!!

i'm majorlly confused. the legal limit in NC is 35%. i got 20% so am i and am i not legal?

also can i pass inspection if i have illegal tinting?

Digger~ the legal limit in NC is 32% according to the website. Hopefully your inspection is sometime in the summer. Just roll your windows down and hope to god they dont check. Mine gets inspected in August. Im going to wait for a real beautiful day and go in to get it done with the fronts rolled down, backs down and sunroof open. I'm hoping i'll get a cool guy to do it and he'll take care of me.

in michigan, you can have as dark as you want behind the driver and as dark as you want for a 4" strip from the top down on the fron 2 plus the winshield...however, i have 7% (limo) from the side-view mirros back (cost me 180, but that includes adding that includes adding 7% tint to the rear 3 on top of factory)....all they have to do is inform you of the law.....havent been ticketed for it yet (although, as i learned from my last can, if you get pulled over for something, roll the window all the way down or the will nail you for it while they are there)

for NC let me give you a hint (as i had 5% on my last vehicle on every window), go to a jiffy lube on the last day of the month, roll in there with the windows down and start sweating. most shops will roll up your windows, but i have NEVER at a jiffy lube had them do it, that and try to hang out with the guy that's doing it. otherwise they'll charge you an extra 10-15 dollars for the "tint inspection" and then won't pass you until the tint is gone... i made it for 5 years with my tint, but it was a stressfull couple minutes when it was being done.

i'm having the fronts done in the X next week, but the legal limit from Formula 1, they have a tint that matches the look of factory perfectly, but is legal, i think 105 for the job, with lifetime for their top of the line tint

i have seen them do it, at some of the "inspection only" joints

and i've seen them do it at jiffy lube when they're not busy
