Got my windows tinted today!!! Check it out (4 pictures)

That's what I'll try to do when I get mine inspected even though they're 35% Wally World brand. I'm trying to avoid the tint inspection fee.

Tint inspection fee??? what is that and is it in VA? what does it entail?

If I remember correctly, there's a charge of about $10 extra for tints.

Does that apply in Virginia? Why they charge extra? and if your windows are down.... would they really roll em up to check?

Very nice!!

Actually, I had mine done today as well:) It was a crapy day to get it done in Columbia, with all the rain. Can't really enjoy it.
It rained there? Hmm, didn't make it over to our way, thank God. I'm about sick of rain.

I need to get my front windows tinted, too, before all the tourons start coming to town.

Shevais~~~~ do you think if you went in with your windows down (for inspection) they would roll them up to check?
Once in New Jersey, I made it through that way but the next year the dude rolled them up and failed me. No inspection here in SC, though.

hrbib21...... hey im in myrtle beach.... what part are you in?

all this talk about inspections makes me glad that michigan has NONE! i did get a ticket once in my last car, but got a leutennat (i doubt i spelled that right) to sign off on it.

Seagate Village. South end. The old air base. Go straight at the end of Ocean Blvd and I'm in there.

hrbib21~ very cool, im at Coastal Carolina Unversity.

it's LIEUTENANT j/k

and yes they will (at least in NC) roll up the windows if you roll in there with them down... although i've never been thru inspection in the X, and my ranger had a dark ass back window and was more custom.... maybe i'd have better luck in the X

Here's an idea......... how much would it cost to get the tint removed?

re: cost to remove

about 50 to have the front 2 stripped and 50 to put back up...i checked into it when i got that ticket, but the whole reason he pulled me over was for having underbody neons on while driving on a public road...the tint was just an added bonus...the ticket read: improper lighting, tint. he also pulled me over around midnight.

so, i took my hyperwhite bilbs and the neon in the grill out (since he never specified what kind of lightting) andtook it into the station (in mid-afternnon). i handed the guy looking overthe car the little neon and hyperwhite bulbs and said that they were the improper lighting and he said the tint looked ok to him. (even though ANY is illegal).

so, i saved 100 bucks in tint replacement and about 6 hrs labor intaking the neons off and putting them back on (because the little one and headlight bulbs ony took 5 min to put back on)

Shevais,
Which Jiffy Lube do you go to? I live in Raleigh and have 20% on the fronts and a May inspection. Formula 1 is a little pricey but they do a great job. I had them do my 300zx and it looked great. I have been wondering what they charge to do the fronts and small rears on a X Sport. Is the $105 for just the fronts?

105 sounds a little pricey for 2 windows..... i would assume that would include the front 2 plus the little side windows...

Matt, what was the brand name of the tint they used on your X? I have been looking for a tint that has the mirror look to match, but no one close has any here.

My tint is by a company called "SUNTEK window films". It is a 27% tint and more specifically, it is the InfinityOP Series film. I'm not sure if this answered your question, but this is about the most information I could find for you. If you really want to know, I guess I could give you the name of the tint shop and you could call and ask them what tint they use on explorers. I just tried a whole bunch of tint shops and was like "can you match this?"...... if they said no, off to the next, just keep checking around and you'll eventually find a shop who can match it for you. I wouldn't worry about cost though, anywhere you go your going to pay between $40-$70. I would just find a shop that says they can match it and go with them. I mean, is it really worthy quiveling over 30 bucks? To me its not, just be patient and you'll find the right place.

nice. big picture dude

Suntek is what I needed to know. Thanks! Around here, tint shops are not allowed to sell mirrored tint, unless it is to be used on a commercial building glass. I did myh windows myself, but just have not been able to find the tint. Now that I have the name, I can order some and do it myself...

Thanks!
