'96 replaced the front pads with some new ceramic pads, rotors were recently machined so I didn't bother this time round.

I went after the pads because I was getting a chirp from and it drove me nuts, so $50 for lifetime ceramic pads was a quick solution.

I ran into the death wobble on when turning the wheels, but after 10 minutes of driving in circles in a parking lot problem solved (thanks to this forum and a thread I found).

That being said, I still have a problem. If I slam on the brakes, I get a terrible almost grinding like sound. It only happens on the passenger side. This only happens when it's a rapid brake. Day to day commute and driving it doesn't happen, they stop on a dime otherwise.

I don't want to be creating damage if I have to slam on the brakes. Thoughts?

I took everything back off and lubed the caliper bolts and greased the pads (forgot to do first time). There's absolutely no grinding or noise unless you slam it down to stop. Please note that even with the noise it's stopping better than it has in awhile.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks. :salute:

Are you sure it's not the back ones grinding?

I had a guy call me a couple weeks ago telling me his front brakes were grinding. He told me he was sure it was the front. I went and got a set of pads and he came over and we jacked the front up. Both front pads were still half there. We changed them anyways and then he got the back pads, that were down to bare metal on one side.

If you're getting a grinding sound, look closely and you should be able to see some fine metal shavings around the hub somewhere.

i have changed probably 100's of brake pads over my lifetime. once (and only once) it turned out to be a bad set of pads. they produced a horrible grinding noise and would even lockup one wheel if applied on sand or gravel. visually they looked fine. if the noise is coming from the front, be sure to check your caliper bolts and caliper mounting bolts. they have been known to loosen up and even fall out if not torqued correctly. i also always use thread locker on my brake bolts. blue on the caliper bolts and red on the mounting bolts.
