I have a 2003 explorer and I have been experiencing a whining, grinding noise in the front end. I know it's not tranny related so i'm thinking ball joints. any help?

wheel bearings? Does it change with speed?

yeah, it seems to get louder. It grinds more when I turn to the left.

Same Issue

I have recently started having the exact same issue with mine. Curious if you got to the bottom of what was going on? Same thing with the left turn too!

mine is doing the same thing when i turn right
i just replaced the drivers side hub last week so now it's time to go find out whats up

Just had it looked at by mechanic yesterday and it is wheel bearings, however in the marvelous 2003 Ford Explorer - you have to buy the whole unit and it's $200 a side at auto zone for the part only. Found them on eBay cheaper - but there's no buying only the bearing for this model....:thumbdwn:
