I am considering getting the true HID conversion. My question is about the different color temps. Is ther a difference in light quality/ better visibility with the higher temps? Is it more of a cosmetic difference?

i believe up to 5000k is white, then 6-7000 k is bluish, and anything 8000-9000k is purple. best i can compare is 6-7000k is close to the benz bluish look. 8-9000k is closest to audi purple look.

I have read somewhere that you should not go above 4500k. IMO blue is harder to see than yellow at night anyway.
You may want to consider doing a search for CATZ HID lamps. This is what I am going with when I get some cash.

no mention if it's capable of high and low beam or just low. my *guess* is it just does low beam where the catz does hi/low.

Thanx guys. Thats the info I was looking for. I think the higher color temps would lead to a higher chance of getting pulled over in my area! :frustrate I think I am going to look at the Catz kit after xmas - my shopping isn't nearly finished yet , so no toys for myself right now !
Thanx again :)

Get the true HID! The HID type kits are not as good at all. I love my kit. If you are going to buck up for the kit, get the ones with High/Low beam! I am hoping to step up to that as soon as I can.

So.........The Hella and Catz HID kits are not true HID??? What would they be classified as? Thanx

Thanks for all the info.....I know what I am getting after the new year for myself :D

I think....hope...it will be the Catz 9007 HID kit. I am going to stick with the lowest color temp they offer - I don't think they are DOT approved yet, and blue/purple light coming out of a pickup will stand out to say the least..... I will have awesome lighting  and not get pulled over for it......hopefully :p
Thanx again all........

Ive got a brand new kit FS in the For Sale section... 9007 dual beam high low....

I have had my 5,800 true HID kit in my truck for over a year and have never had any problems from the lights. I have been pulled over a few times and nothing ever said about the HeadLights.

Off topic: Now matt why are you getting pulled over?

I was going to buy the dual 9007 hid's. Problem is I lack any funds to buy. Anyhow, I think the stock (believe it or not) look pretty white to me (keep in mind i have a 2k2 x sport).

Well, Speeding a few times. Once a officer pulled me over and really just looked arround my truck for about 5 minutes and said that I really should put my front licence plate on and then let me go. LOL
