Thinking of asking for one for christmas, does anyone know where the best place in an explorer to mount the control unit?

Where did you mount yours?

Explorer96xlt,

Did you end up getting the Drive + Play? If so, where did you mount yours? I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer I want to put one in.

Thanks,
Rob

wow for $400 couldnt you just get a new head unit that has ipod controls built in?

My kenwood decks will control an I pod from the deck just like a CD changer.
the folder and song titles appear on the deck and the +/- funtions and > < funtions on the deck switch folders and songs just like a CD changer.

this is a $90 add on to my Kenwood deck, just plug in the I pod, put it in the glove box and forget about it...

However the HK unit does look nice :)

I was actually thinking of the original HK D+P, which I can get for $28 BNIB, incl. shipping, on eBay. There's no way I'm dropping $400 on the D+P2, though I'll agree it does look nice. I haven't looked into any HUs yet. I don't want to get a product that I can't use on my next vehicle that'll replace the explorer. I figured I could still mount the D+P in such a way that it'll be easy to uninstall. I was thinking of putting the text display on another mount, like maybe something from ProClip. I just wasn't sure what to do with the control unit. As I sit in the truck, there's no comfortable place to rest my right arm & reach a spot where I would mount a controller.

I will have to do some research on HUs now though.

Rob
