A week ago my husband did a tune up on my truck ever since i have had problems. When i start it it idles really high ( 2 1/2 to 3 rpms) Usually it would run 1 to 1 1/2. And when it was in gear it would run normal. When i try to stop at a light or something it would be hard to stop and feel like it wants to keep moving. And on a flat away it would go up to 15 mph by itself. I replaced the mass air flow sensor thinking it would help it didn't. Can anyone help me so i can get it fixed...

try disconnecting the battery for about 5 min then reconnect it sometimes it will clear things up .the truck will re-learn things from that point .

hope this helps

Also check for any vacuum lines that may have been knocked off, cracked, etc.

A large vacuum leak may cause the engine to idle too high.

i would check everything again. make sure the MAF sensor (left side on air intake tube) is hooked up. make sure no vacuum leaks, make sure the spark plug wires are all snugged on, make sure there's water in the radiator (engine will idle faster to compensate if there's not), main thing i would check is to make sure he has the spark plugs gapped correctly, and also that they're hooked up right. as in they are going to the right spark plu from the coil (distributor)

further on the vacuum subject, check the VECI label on the underside of the hood (I think). It's a "map" of where the hoses are supposed to go. A misplaced hose could lead to the same condition.

You have a vacuum leak as these guys pointed out

high idle and brakes are manual = vacuum leak
your husband either broke a plastic vacuum line, knocked a cap off a closed port on the vacuum tree or failed to hook a vacuum line back up.

The brake booster is vacuum controlled, so no vacuum in the booster = super hard brake pedal and no braking action

High idle = Manifold vacuum is open to atmosphere

Should be an easy fix, just need to do some searching under the hood to find the broken/missing hose or leak

sorry about that ,i was just thinking of the maf & the computer needing to be reset.your right tho open vac line will give a high rpm's .
