Hey all, I'm considering my options of upgrading my headlights on my 14 Ex for the same reasons I've seen in other threads. But I want to hear from those who've done likewise upgrades either putting in a plug and play LED bulb or installing HIDs into the stock housing. Which is better?
How's the lifespan?
Any issues after installation ie. over heating, flickering, loss of light?
Any change in headlight pattern and distance?
Pictures are welcomed.

No such thing as a plug and play LED kit if you currently have halogens.

Whatever type of bulb you have, the "upgrades" need to be the same.

If you want different types of bulbs, do a full retrofit.

If you wish to do a proper HID install you will have to replace the housing (retro fit) since the HID and Halogen housings are different and specifically designed for the factory supplied bulb. A plug and play is a cheaper way to go but you will never get a precise focus and those kits are not DOT approved for on-road use. This has been discussed many times in different threads. There are also pictures in some of those threads.

For the LED's I believe he means the Conversion bulbs (9005) that you can now buy from amazon. Here's an example

I have been thinking about getting some of the new LED's bulbs also, but am also curious on how good they work

There is not yet a "conversion kit" for halogen housings to have LEDs. These types have been sold for years and cannot replicate the light emission of a halogen bulb.
