Heated seats High setting only gets to 90F?

Ya mine arent that warm either......I agree they should be hotter......in my old 07 Yukon you would have to turn it down from High to Medium as it got a little hot.

What good is High if it doesnt get hot.

:bsnicker:I usually warm my buns in the oven. :D

Gm seats get much hotter than in our ex.....I do have to turn them down when the whole car warms up though...

I must have a real sensitive ass, because my seats get real hot!

Who wants a sweaty crack anyways?

...or Schweddy, well, never mind.

i'm in houston so i haven't even had to use my heated seats....come to think of it, i actually used my a/c seat on my way home from work just now......

I have had heated seats in my previous 3 Highlanders and now in my Limited. Winters do get cold here but I'd say that over a 10 year period I probably only used the heated seat 5 times. I can't see it being of much use to me when I'm wearing a 3/4 length Winter coat and have the regular heat on. But they are nice to have.

i wish the ex had a heated steering wheel....i know i'm gonna miss that option from my previous maxima....

Yeah here in Seattle we have a "temperate" climate. It's kind of everywhere in between.

In the winter 1" (about 2.5 cm) of snow shuts down the entire metro area (people don't know how to drive in snow), that amount of rain slows traffic to a crawl. In the summer people get excited and hot-tempered (pardon the pun) so they drive like lunatics. All scenarios cause increased accidents <sigh>.

I remember Ottawa from 23 years ago (and also 2 years ago), snow plows come out and it's not bad. In Boston we drive at 60mph in blowing snow, the roads are dry and clean (deiced).

Anyway, winter is too warm to wear a whole body coat. I use a lightweight (for Ottawa weather) parka, and blue jeans. My butt gets cold as I'm used to my traded in X5 (which has 3 heat settings) which is toasty. But then again the service shuttle Escape was much warmer than my 2011 Ex! I'll go and measure dem seats tomorrow ... :D

Hi guys,

If you feel the heated seat isn’t operating as intended, I suggest having it checked by the dealer (like Saundman suggested). I’m also happy to lend a hand by forwarding the details to the Customer Service Manager in your area. So I can do that, please PM your contact info, dealer name/state, mileage, and VIN.

If you live north of the border, you can call the Ford of Canada Customer Relationship Center @ 1-800-565-3673 for help. :)

my heated seats get hot enough that I have to turn it down or off, my wife says the same thing, so I think they do work as intended. I just never get the chance to turn them on before I get into the vehicle which is when you need them most to avoid the cold shock to your buns, lol. The seats take a bit of time to warm up though, not really that fast IMO.

I have to agree, the seats in my Explorer don't heat up like I'm used to with my previous Ford vehicles. The seats in our '10 Fusion get toasty warm and the seats in my '08 F150 were the same way. I like a hot seat :D I think those that don't have a complaint about the seat temperature must have the premium seating package with 3 heat settings. I didn't want the perf'ed seats in my limited, so I only have 2 heat settings (very low and low).

Update on this bun heating issue. Good news: both service and I reproduced the nice toasty temperature of 100F. I noticed the seat becoming too hot in the high setting (on XLT not Limited) below a certain outside temperature, above it and the seats are lukewarm.

I can't control the outside temperature or I would have figured out the exact temperature just to be bun retentive LOL.

I'm very happy that when it's cold outside the seated heat works which is when I need it the most. I don't mind lukewarm when it's not that cold outside.

I'm in love with my XLT all over again!

90 degrees is plenty coming out of the seats, If the other alternative is say 105 degrees, just like a hot tub it can be too hot.. IMO

Actually, 90F is lukewarm. If you think about it your body feels heat when the item you touch is hotter than your body (temperature differential). 90F is quite a bit below body temperature and registers as lukewarm (at least for me). 100F is nice and toasty when it's 35F outside.

Heated seats weak - 2014

I searched but didn't find anything. My heated seats up front are very weak - even at full (level 3).

2014 Explorer Limited

My wife has a Mercedes GL and they get a lot hotter and hotter faster.

Every car I've been in with heated seats seems to vary in intensity. My pontiac g8 gt had seats so hot you wondered if they was something wrong with them. Our Honda pilots seat heaters were very, very weak. My buddy has his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee currently in the shop having his entire drivers side seat replaced because the seat heater element malfunctioned, overheated and burned a wear hole in the seat area near the elements! Personally, I find my ex sport seat heaters to be about perfect and are very comparable to my bmw seat heaters as far as heat intensity is concerned. And they both heat up pretty quickly too.

Our '14 Limited heated seats are weak IMHO. Our old Enclave and Grand Prix work faster and are hotter.

I never realized how weak the Explorer heated seats were until I got my Acura TL. The TL seat heaters are warmer on the lowest setting than the Explorer seats on their highest setting. The Explorer seats also take significantly longer to actually warm up.
