Not a question or anything. But I just finished fixing the heater core on my 99 Explorer. It was the longest weekend job i think i ever did. Feel very accomplished to finish it. I also replaced the dash lights to LED cause I had it all apart. I got the heater core done yesterday by 3ish. Got the dash and blower motor installed by 5 yesterday, so today i needed to finish installing the instrument cluster and lower console.

I have heat and it doesn't try to kill me i am very happy.

Nice work! Yes, you definitely need heat without the ethylene glycol vapors there in St. Paul! Like you said, quite a long weekend job. I did mine in my son's car a couple of years ago. Took my hands about 2 weeks to heal up from reaching the "hidden bolt".

By the way, my son goes to Carleton College in Northfield and worked for a company called Tempworks there in St. Paul this past summer as an intern. He has a 2000 5.0 Mountaineer, you can tell it by the new heater core!

yeah i did learn i will never do that job again. The 3 bolts above teh dash took me a while to notice i needed to get pulled. i didn't put the nut on the hidden screw.

Yes, but now you know. ;)

This is not a job for the timid, unless necessity dictates. Good job man!

Next time, it will be easier.

and I say next time because I too said never again, but the need outweighed the lie. :D
Your time was much faster than mine.
