'08 Sport Trac XLT 4x4 V8
Hello all

I am supposed to pick her up tomorrow, if the dealer can make the dealer trade otherwise it may be Monday morning. Using the Costco discount which appears to be about $1500 off the sticker price.
But I committed to a 08 XLT with the V8 and 4x4. Apparently there are only 5 such available in the whole state, the one that came closest to my choices was 500 miles away in Susanville. My top choices were the dark green with a moonroof. A few green ones are available but only 4x2s with a V6. They appear to not want to sell V8s here, they get the same mileage.
So I get a dark blue with no moonroof, but the 4x4 with V8 was my primary needs. This truck is only 100 miles away right now.
Getting excited as I have not bought a new truck in 25 years. In the past I have had a 66 International Scout, a 76 Chevy b**zer, a 79 cj7 , a 94 Bronco XLT and our current 74 VW Thing. Other than the scout the Bronco was the most reliable, always got me home with no lingering problems.
This new Sport Trac will be the truck I plan on retiring in, retirement is only 5 years away. We plan on leaving So CA and moving back to the mountains maybe even Canada.

cheers,
Tom

Colfax/Nice vehicle!

Are you familiar with that part of CA? It's very quiet and it's right at snow level...

I love the area, but we have a diabetic pet at home we do not want to leave her alone.
She can be boarded, but the blue truck is close by.

Understood...

Hope you stay in CA though :)

You might try Pollack Pines also... I have a friend that moved there in 95, she's still there. And I hear the pets up there have plenty of company... there are a lot of sitters up there.

Oh thanks. We both love it here. My wife grew up in Yosemite, we just both miss the rain and snow so much. We are really looking strongly at the Grass Valley area. A great strong winter and bluegrass area.

Ha...

That's the place where they leave the keys in the car while they stop in the grocery store... That place is beautiful! How did you end up in this part of So CA?:):)

It so bothers Amy if I do not lock up the truck. Half the time I even forget to close the garage door, lol. I hate to blame it on my memory. I love getting older, I can now forget!

I was born in San Diego, raised in Long Beach. I spent all of my weekends and holidays in Yosemite since 1974. I am a carpenter and when work was poor I moved up to where I considered home. Met my wife at the county fair, really! Work was really worse there than I ever thought it could be, who knew in a tourist town?
So, back to LA I moved where work was better. About ten years later Amy gave me a call wondering if we had anything going on. We married two months later. She hates it here, but does not like home any better. We both love the Yosemite of 20 years ago, not what it is today. Believe it or not, it is hard to drag her back there for holidays!
I told her after we get a winch installed I plan on driving in to paper cabin. Have to bring ramps in to bridge streams.

After 10 years??

Woww! It sounds like no matter where the two of you are, you are at home... You are very blessed to have Amy... That's a beautiful story man! Thank you for sharing. :)

Pics, pics and pics

I have no complaints at all yet. Drove up to Mt Baldy, alas no snow. Does not have the bed extender or roof bars, get them off ebay cheaper. Talked them into a free 6 year 100,000 warranty.

Welcome to Explorer Forum!

GreenMando, Char is looking for a carpenter. Is this your area of carpentry? Thanks!

What does Char need? I run a crew remodeling Nordstrom's and Neiman Marcus's. I can ask one of the guys if they are interested in side jobs.
