Help 4x4 wont work

i just bought a 2002 ford explorer.. i dont know what i was thinking but it never crossed my mind to check out the 4x4 before i bought it. well today i tried it and when i hit the buttons nothing happens... ive searched the thread and everyone with the same problems has the buttons that dont light up, well my buttons are LIT UP but they wont engauge the 4x4. its driving me crazy.. i bought a 4x4 for a reason.. please help. thanks in advance

Sounds like the 4x4 control module. Here is a thread that was discussed the other day with similar problems.

If I remeber correctly, mine lit up as well but the 4x4 didn't work, got a new control module and it's been working every since See if you can try one before you buy it.

Also check to make sure the #17 and #18 fuses under the hood are not missing or burned out.
