HELP! Engine does not want to start some time!

Hi everyone,
I am new to this board. This is my first post!
I have a 96 ford explorer, has 102k mile on it, last week, I changed out the starter, the battery, did a tune up on it, new plugs, and wires, went back with the same kind it had on it. I changed the tranny filter and fluid, had the radator flushed. The day after I did all of this, I went to get in it to go, and all it would do would turn over, would not start up. I pulled the key out and then tried it again, it fired right up. It runs perfect, no missing, no stumbling, it runs good! Well, today my wife drove it, and she called me, said it would not start, she said she had been trying for 15 to 20 minute. It turns over but will not start up. I go to pick her up, I jump in it, and it fired right up, no problem at all. Here again, it runs perfect once it cranks. Does any one have any ideal what this could be? I would think if it was the coil pack, that it would be missing and not running good. But like I said it runs perfect.

i dont know that it would miss but usually if a cool pack goes bad (EVERY) time i ever seen one go bad the vehicle would run fine turn it off and would not start back at all until the pack was changed i would pull them off and try cleaning them if that dont work trace your ignition wire from the fuse box under the hood and make sure that it is not shorting out anywhere

What are you talking about? You said to take them off one at a time and clean them. When I put the wires on, I sprayed down in the coil pack with LPS#3.

check the harness that plugs into the coil pack. my 91 ranger had a problem like that and thats all it was. make sure its pushed on tight.
