Hi,

Though all was going to be Ok but...

Need to replace following -

N/S and O/S upper ball joints
N/S and O/S lower ball joints
O/S front CV joint gaiter
All front anti roll bar bushes

Obviously my first visit was to my local Ford Main Dealer - who promptly told me they could not help!!!

Any help with part numbers greatly received :D

try yr local motor factor, while you're doing the bushes, you might aswell try to find uprated ones.. !!

Thanks Jon, contacted to see if shipping to Uk is viable - need my X though so need to know how long it would take.

Si, Local motor factors are as much use a Ford around here!

Hmm.. have a look at some of the exploreforum vendors, see if they'll do some uprated poly bushes with express shipping to the uk.. shouldn't be much more than stock especially from the US and fitting ain't too bad either I shouldn't imagine..

Hi Bruce,
I needed bottom ball joint & C/V boot for my 98 EX and the Ford dealer was able to supply, about £25 +vat each or so, they were slightly cheaper than indi quotes. Perhaps try another dealer?

I wish they had :(

HUGELY overpriced :thumbdwn:

I think I am sorted!

tried a different Ford dealer today and found someone willing to help!

I have got the O/S and N/S upper and lower ball joints on order, along with the CV gaitor - all at a price cheaper than anywhere else

The anti-roll bar bushes proved more problematic...

I needed the bushes for the sway bar links O/S and N/S but realised after looking at the totally different ones on the Ford parts screen mine were different - I have EXTENDED SWAY BAR DROP LINKS that came with the Superlift

But, a Knight in shining armour has offered to make me some custom poly bushes

As for US Auto!!... I have just saved myself over £100 by sticking with Ford

Glad its worked out OK

Bruce,

Not sure if I should post this now you have the parts on order but I used rockauto.com to order the lower ball joints for my Ex and they cost $88 USD about £53.00 including 1-3 day shipping for 2.

Order on Tuesday at 3pm and arrived Thursday at 9am :eek:

My local Fraud dealer wanted £60.50 + VAT per side for the ball joints and gave a 5-10 day delivery from Germany!

Might be worth calling Rock Auto and checking if it works out cheaper (especially with the dollar being so weak at the moment) and they can probably get them to you before Fraud.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Carl

Carl,

I think your right in calling them your local fraud dealer!.. Mine have cost no where near what you were quoted....maybe he was quoting the wrong part, it wouldn't be the first time!

Thanks for the rockauto info though, may use them in the future.

there's a guy on ebay who said he'd do me the top & bottom arms, top & bottom ball joints, track rod ends, and drop links delivered for £175.. dunno if that's a good price or not?
