Hi everyone!

I'm just having this issue with the copilot side. It just made a strong noise in the axis inside the differential. (I attached a document in Spanish, the one I have.).

Apparently, this is the bearing wheel that I need to replace. Today, I just removed everything to pull out the axis and see. (I attached a photo of the inside tube.)

Has anyone experienced this and been able to fix it? Any videos or step-by-step steps to get over that?

Also, does anyone have the part numbers of the bearing wheel and the studer (estopera) in Spanish?

Please help! It drives me crazy!

Spanish part numbers are different?

I would suspect your wheel bearing before I suspect the differential

What makes you think the noise is in the differential?

When you pulled the axle shaft out of the passenger side, how does it look? It should be smooth where it rides on the axle seal

Hello! Thanks for your answer.

Well, the thing is a craking noise that appears when I drive over 60 km/h–80 km/h, and it vibrates from the copilot side... Furthermore, I just put the truck up with the hydraulic bottlejack and moved the wheel by myself, and the noise appeared just by rotating it. Unfortunately, I didn't record it. When I move it, the sound seems to be coming from that particular part. Also, you're right, I need to change the wheel bearing (the complete part) because it comes as a complete part.

I thought of pulling down the front differential and sending it for a complete check and maintenance.

Any other advice will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Torrington b-268 needle bearing. Starts here in Betty's thread

Stick your finger in the differential and you can feel that bearing
See if the rollers turn smoothly
That bearing is lubricated by the gear lube in the differential, they rarely go bad. However your wheel bearing (we can them unit bearings) is highly suspect we replace those all the time

I suggest you use a good brand wheel bearing, motorcraft,
Timken, Moog, ac delco make decent unit bearings

How
Many miles (km) on the truck?

Hello! Thanks for your reply!

My truck has 346.200 km.

I'm seriuly thinking in do the full check and maintenance in the front differential.... let's see tomorrow i'll go to the workshop..

Sometimes, it’s easier to just drop the diff out of the truck. If the bearing on one side is shot, the other likely isn’t far behind. That way you can easily do the bearings and seals, and change the fluid.

Agreed!

Hello everyone!

I gotta tell you all, i dropped the front diff for good. But i got no intention to put it back again... the 4x4 function in the truck wasn't installed. Just the differential in place, that's it. I know that since i bought it in the first place.

I will send you pics of the process. I this way i get rid of the noise and many other expenses... I still have to change the wheel bearing, but it's just a lot of less work and money...

Thank you all for your help and guidance..

I still love my 5.0 v8 302 elite explorer 2000.

Greetings!

Very interesting! Glad you kept the stub axles so the wheel bearings do not fall apart

Is the noise gone?

The truck still has an awd transfer case?

Hello friend, sorry for the delay.

Yes, this truck has an AWG transfer case, that's joint with the gearbox.

The noise went away, honestly that front differential was doing nothing there, i just regret that's not original anymore.

Well life goes on.

By the way, i'm looking for a headlights like this:

Has anyone know where to find them? Thanks!
