Help??? How do you jump a/c clutch

Okay so here is an update. I had one of our maintenance techs at work look at it. He went to school for refrigeration and a/c. So my X is a little different than the rest. Lol of course. For some reason it wouldn't charge with the a/c on. The minute I turned the A/C off the can started to empty. When the needle on the gauge got to green, I turned the a/c unit on and everything started working like it supposed to. Now my A/C is blowing cold as ice. We shut it off and recharged the rest of it and now I'm all set. Just in time too. Lol because the heat wave is no longer around. Supposed to be in the low 70's. Ha ha. O well now I have a/c when it does get hot. Thanks to all of you guys for your advice and help.

Um you're never going to get it charged to the proper amount with the A/C off unless you are charging from a big tank. Those Walmart gauges are supposed to be in the green with the A/C ON. Should be well in the red with the A/C off.

It sounds almost like you're trying to charge though the high side if none would go in with the A/C on. The high side is on the drivers side by the compressor and the low side is on the passenger side by the condenser.

You're also supposed to charge by weight not pressure.

The easiest way to go about it without a scale and all the specialized equipment is to vacuum down the system then add exactly 3 cans. Capacity without rear a/c is 32oz's. 3 cans is 36oz's. So when you consider hose loss and the cans not emptying all the way that roughly accounts for the 4 extra oz's.

Does this guy have his EPA certs to buy R12/R22? I do.

Here are the A/C specs for anyone that needs them:

Oil type is PAG 46.

PSA: Never use one of them "auto adjusting" orifice tubes, they suck.

Let me clarify. Once I got enough pressure in the system to get the clutch Spinning i charged it while it was on. Kind of hard to explain, I had it off charged it enough to turn on a/c enough to get clutch spinning then charged it the rest of the way. I couldn't charge it on the high side, the connector only fit on one fitting.
