Fog Lights
I use Hella 550 fog lights. They are good quality, but moderately priced. Their only fault is that the white plastic stone shields deteriorate and crumble after a few years. The 550's are rectangular and the 500's are round. Which shape you choose is a metter of personal preference.
I would recommend fog lamps instead of driving lights. Driving lights may not be street legal in your state. Fog lamps cast a wide beam which illuminates the side of the road. I find this helpful, especially in areas where there are critters crossing the road.
Amber or clear? I don't know. I use amber lamps on the grille guard. Amber is supposed to cut through fog and rain better, though some people say they just cut down on the light output. Ideally, the fogs should be mounted low, like on top or under the bumper, but every time I've mounted fogs under the bumper they've gotten smashed, so I went to fog lamps up on the grille guard. Because of the higher location, I chose amber lamps to minimize glare reflected back at me from fog and snow.
Choose a name brand and you will be happy. I've tried no-brand auto parts store lamps and they are junk. The molded glass lenses are thin and the hardware rusts.
