I'm running an elemental designs 15" sub, and it takes all the punishment I send to it with ease.

The O series looks like an excellent candidate for you.. It likes small sealed boxes, and it doesn't take much power to get it moving. It's a sound quality sub, but has the ability to get pretty loud, and will play pretty low for a 10".

eD's customer service is some of the best I've encountered. All the guys up there are really down to earth, and don't mind going the extra length to help you out.

Hmm looks like there are a lot of good people here and I deff would vote against any JL subs....bang for your buck hell no...bang for any buck lol i ain't even sure about that. In comparison if you would like you can spend 1G on a W7 or more likely 800 and I could get a sub for half the price and maybe even less that would utterly destroy you. If you really want some power in a compact size I would deff go with the RE 10" series that accomodates your price range. As for MTX I know expo knows what he is talking about but in my own opinion I am not a big fan of them. Good subs none the less but would not be high on my reccomendation list....

Hey expo did you say something about competition :) I'm always up for that you should come over to Jersey and have some fun...

I guess you are replying to me...

MTX has a pretty weak reputation right now. They have definetly fallen from thier glory days. If they make you happy then thats great. Have fun.

Compete in what? Who mentioned anything about competing? I just say dont by into the HYPE. You are the 1st person on any forum that I have seen who has actually heard a 9500 and thinks its better than a W7.

didn't say it was better. said i could sell it for a half the price with a full warranty and it would be very close to the same.

also, for my needs i wanted to run 15s and the w7 doesn't get that big which alone is a good advantage for the 9500. I will be louder than 13w7s unless they are set-up for spl with over the rms power.

I also use my truck as a "rolling business card" or whatever you'd call it "demo vehicle" so using a mtx product allows me to promote their line of products which in my opinion is far easier for most people i want to sell/install to/for to stomache $$ wise.

Its true that many people are down on mtx lately and for good reason (this included me until a few weeks ago) i just have belief in these new woofers and that their amps and lower end stuff is as good as you can do for the money. Its not the highest end stuff, and i agree that the RE stuff or ed is better in many situations. i will put my money on these subs changing the minds of many people about mtx. even if i have to do it one listener at a time.

as for competing- i'm not doing an spl set-up and my truck is a daily driven vehicle even in the winter. that said- after i get it in there i'm confident that i'll be able to compare pretty well with the others on this site spl wise.

can't wait to start kicking some butt!

Tru Tru...yeah i mean I use my truck for the same things and it is a daily driver for everything...i don't think I will have a problem in the winter...why would i????

As for RE, ED, and DD yes they are hard to sell specifically because of how they are produced but RE is much easier to sell then the other two I think.

Well lets see whats up with these MTX and maybe you can change my mind....

Ok once again i want to thank you all for all the help you guys are giving me.... Now to be completely honest with you, I had never even heard of elemental designs (or RE? or dd?) but I went to there edesignsaudio.com website and I am impressed... Can someone please give me a lil more information on these subs (how do they sound)? Are they "better" subs than the jlaudio? Louder? better SQ? the big question is: Do these things sound good and do they BUMP??? Also which series is better O,K, or the A series (was more impressed with the A series 10")? I was willing to pay for a jlaudio stealthbox with a w6 but if the q logic box and this sub sound better.... :D Any info will help this newbie!

1 more thing... Does qlogic even make a stealthbox for a 2003 XLS? I can't seem to find it anywhere (only see up to 2002 models).

think of it this way JL is common stuff like fosgate...everyone knows them....what we are reccomending is the stuff you don't here about...the high end stuff that ain't sold in stores...that your friends have never heard of....

put it this way 1...single...just one DD9015 running 2400W get a 148.8 and that ain't all it can do it will be better..

http://www.ddaudio.com and check out my sub setup on the site.... http://www.kronixsound.com

and RE is http://www.respl.com

In other words these are a step up from jlaudio? If so which ones will work best in the qlogic stealthbox? How much do these re subs cost and which series is the better sub?

Man I have been trying to find a place where these (ed, re, dd) subs are sold and I can find nothing:mad: can someone help?

they generally are not sold anywhere there are very few dealers...you best bet for them is to email the company and get them that way....

As for a step up from JL....by far they are a leap up...

Best series...the x.. series from RE is awesome till we get to see the MT series...and from dd the 9900 series is the badass and the 9500 series is a little more common...

i don't think a x.. is a jump up from a w7- it might do the job for some people etc. but its not a jump ahead by any means

x.. is the best series RE makes but actually I do think it is a step up from the w7 but hey we are all entitled...

As for the MT it is a pure SPL sub...so no music there but sub wise it is gonna be the badass...

wow you guys are just a load of info!!! (and I know i am getting annoying with all my questions but i just wanna make sure i'm doing it right). Ok, i went to the good guys today and was listening to a 10" jl 6v2 and I was impressed but I am so leaning into going with one of these other subs (because you guys are saying I will be happier). I really am quite impressed with 3 subs:

#1- I like the RE 10" x.. but I can't find a price on it:( does anyone know what they run for?

#2- From ED I was looking into the E100 A series 10". At 270 is well within my price range. But how well does it perform against the 6v2??? (guess I'm a lil skeptical still but I'll take your honest opinions and follow them)

#3- The DD 10" 3510c is the dd sub that fits my price range.

Now, could you tell me which one of these subs are better and rank them (eg.= 1=DD 2= Re 3=Ed...)!

Once again thanks for your tome and patience fellas!

I got into this thread late so I may have missed some stuff :D

The x.. is as good as the w7 for half the price. It is a no brainer on which to buy. I currently own a diamond audio tdx, re x.. and have spent a lot of time with a w7. RE's advantage is through the use of xbl^2 technology they are able to make a sub with significantly less distortion than the others with off the shelf parts. JL had to create many custom parts to get their optimized bl, which is not as flat as x..'s. BL contributes over 70% of distortion in a sub, so a flat bl curve is very important.

The re 10xxx will cost you around 360 or so, depending on the config you want(I am assuming you are in the US). You can call RE to get the exact price shipped. Normal config is dvc with 2 ohm coils. qvc is also available.

As far rank. What exactly are you looking for. If you want good sounding loud bass then the I would say RE, ED, DD. The ED seems to be a little louder than the RE at 1000 watts, so it may have an edge if that is what you want. It should be a nice sub also. If you want it loud, and less accurate at high volume then DD. All of the subs have their place. The install is more important than the equipment also.
