Hi all, having a problem with my '91 Explorer.
About a month ago I had my summer tires put on, and immediately noticed the vehicle was pulling to the right. I've been too busy to investigate, but the issue seems to be getting worse. About a week ago I noticed that at high speeds I hear a constant low pitch "rubbing" sound that I believe is coming from the front-right tire. The weird thing about the noise is that it goes away when when making long, sweeping left hand turns at high speed, and the noise resumes again when I'm going straight and worsens when I make long, sweeping right turns.
I jacked the front of the vehicle up and noticed the front right tire is difficult to turn. I took the tire off, and it looks to me like the break is stuck engaged on the rotor. I used a screw driver to push on the caliper and was able to move it slightly, and the result was an easier to rotate caliper.
Does this sound like a stuck caliper? If so, is this a common issue with older Explorers, and any suggestions on how to approach this problem?
Thanks for all the help keeping my Explorer running over the past few months.
