93 explorer limited
i recently got a 93 explorer limited from my uncle and the first thing i was going to do was put my aftermarket touch screen head unit in and my subs in they are 2 12in rockfords in a seald box. anyways i noticed it had a stock sub so after i put my head unit in i (just for kicks) hooked my subs to the wires for the stock sub and it actually bumped really good which susprised me the only down side was i couldnt control the subs sepretley.

Q 1. I would like to know if there is a way to have the subs run off the stock amp but plug into the head unit at the rc cable so i can control the subs sepretley?

Q 2.The only other problem im having is every now and then the sound seems to kick in and out but not out completley like at one point its really clear and crisp and then it sounds really dull like you would have put something over the speakers to dull the sound any idea why its doing that?

Thanks in advance

You'll eventually blow the subs by powering them off the dinky factory amp, I'd suggest not doing it. Get a good amp with the right power rating for the subs, get good wiring to connect it to the head unit, battery, and subs, and enjoy it.

When wiring an amp for power wheres the best location to get through the firewall?

Should be a rubber grommet somewhere under the drivers side around the pedals that you can pass the wire through. Good luck.

The pic below is directly behind the E-brake. The wire bundle in black electrical tape is passing through the firewall via the black rubber grommet.
