So I have pretty much decided on getting 4 lights for my roof rack, but I haven't exactly decided on the rest of the specs. I looked at the procomp explorers but I am open to other brands as long as they are not outrageously priced. As for the procomps, I pretty much narrowed them down to either the 5 or 6 inches. I don't know about the size because I was afraid that the 5s might look too small or the 6s might be too big to fit. Maybe someone with a little more experience cAn help me out?

For what its worth, I would steer away from the pro comps. My friend has a pair on his heep and they are not very good from what I have seen. I'm not sure what model they are, but I know they are either 5 or 6 inch.

They don't seem as bright as Hella 500s(or 700s, but both are larger than the ones you were looking at). And although the Hellas have plastic bodies, the mount seems to be more secure than the Pro Comps. Although his are a few years old, the paint was completely gone, and they were rusty.

Hopefully someone else will chime in who has them. I only have one experience with them, and like I mentioned, they are older lights.

I would at least look into Hella 500's. You can even get them flood light versions(at least you used to), so you can have 2 driving and 2 flood, if you wish.

o, thanks for the information on the pro comps, I am definitely glad I didn't go and buy those. I'll look into the hellas! As i said before, the budget is my main issue, but other than that, I am not going to really use them for intense mudding or crawling or anything, just flipping them on out at the house to look for foxes or anything that could harm our ducks, and just for the looks of them, lol. Thanks for your help, guys.

I looked at the Hellas and now I am almost sold on them. I liked the idea of getting 2 driving lights and 2 fog lights. The only thing that I have to ponder now is 500 or 500FF? I know that the differences are between the lenses and how they distribute the light, but I haven't decided which is best for me. I am just looking for the widest, farthest, brightest lights to sort of "recreate" daytime during the night, if that makes any sense. Which should I choose? Are the FFs worth the extra money?

Honestly I can't say as I have not used them side by side. I have a set of "normal" 500 driving lights. They have pretty decent range, and have a little bit of light that illuminates to the sides. Its enough to help navigate around at night, but certainly not a wide-beam flood/fog light.

From what I understand the FF have a longer, more narrow beam than normal driving lights. However, the regular 500 has a fairly narrow beam to begin with.

I suppose it just comes down to if you think you need a little more range, and the price difference.

so maybe i should go 500 fogs and 500ff driving lights?
