help with my subs

ok i just put my new head unit, subs, and amps in my truck. i have a 640 watt amp and a 460 watt amp powering 2 10's and a 12. all the wires are ran and the amps are gettin power but the light on them isnt turning to green showing that they are working any one know what the problem could be?


o and also will running this much power kill my alternator? it happened my old car but that was a pos.

Try the 12 volt turn-on lead wire that runs from the back of your headunit to the amplifiers. when the deck turns on, it will send a signal to your amplifiers turning them on as well. the wire is usually solid blue.

I have a two 12" alpine type R's and a 1000 watt phoenix gold amp in my 97x. First off kaisertj is right about the blue wire coming off the back of the deck, also make sure that you have a good ground, that is the number one problem! trust me I know from experience, and you might look into getting a power cap from you local stereo shop it will help some with the battery draw!

You might have trouble running 2 10's and a 12. Subs of different sizes generally cancel each other out, and may not sound right. Killing the alternator depends on the brand of the amps.

check the wiring! Also are those specs you posted rms wattage, if not you dont have to worry about your electrical, unless it's already in bad shape!

Subs of different sizes dont 'cancel each other out'. If one sub was wired out of phase, then yes. Wire them all in phase, unless it is isoberic.
