here i go again ! (well hopefully)

hey everyone ,after joining the group yesturday i want to say thank you for the input on the headliner ..saved me the time and money on buying it .after buying my first explorer 2dr 2wd sport last november on craigslist for $ 500 .....today i was on the list again looking for parts and found another deal for $ 400 + $75 to haul it home .it's a a 94 4dr 4x4 xlt ,same year ,same color ,same leather interior color ...same /same !!!! .

the bad....
got a blown head gasket
rear pass' side glass broke out
one crapped out front tire

the good....
got a recentlly rebuilt transmission !
loads of good parts
sunroof !

my questions are ,

will the trans (a4ld) mate up to mine ( i bet not if it's 4x4) but would be nice to have a spare tranny around you know .

despite its over all shape and things wrong with it would this be money well spent ( meaning if the tranny wont interchange at least i'll have a parts truck to use for my 2d sport) ?

lastlly if i was to buy it and rebuild the engine how much would a "basic" good rebuild kit cost (meaning just putting new rings / bearings etc...) cost??

the glass i can get at pullapart ( local junk yard here in georgia ) for chheeepppp so getting it sealed up i dont think will be such a issue.

WHAT DO YA THINK ?!? should i or not ?

Im pretty sure the 4wd tranny will work in your 2wd but the driveshaft to the rear axle will be diff length and you won't be able to use the 4wd, but I think you could change rear output shaft so you could use it without having the t-case hooked up.

great ,anyone else think thats its a good buy , i mean if i buy this thing and use it for a parts truck then surelly i could get at least 400 for the transmission and or the tranny plus the transfer case ...thats all my money back right there u know ! ?

You could have a 4wd truck then too. Either swap some stuff over to make urs 4X4 or use that truck.
