Hi Guys:
I know this question is here around on and on, but I'm looking for real answers; My 10' Ex is killing my pocket with 14.9 mpg, my question is, someone have install the hhokitsdirect.com in their ex? If so, do you have any gain in mpg?

Thanks for the info.

I built one of those several years ago. It was a fun little project. It didn't increase my mileage though.

It did however, pump out fairly decent volume of EXTREMELY explosive colorless odorless gas. I was curious if it was a hoax or not, so I hooked mine up to to a 15 VDC electrical system and held a lighter up to it. The whole kit exploded. I was very lucky I wasn't hurt.

I ended up installing a wide band oxygen sensor in the car, and then I hooked up potentiometers to the stock narrow band o2 sensors. I dialed down the cruising air fuel ratio to about 17:1. It was pretty cool to get 36mpg in a 1994 5.7L V8 Camaro Z28.

Hello. I have recently installed a dual dry cell HHO system from HydroclubUSA and a Volo chip in my 2005 4.6L V8 Explorer XLT. I have it injected into air intake right before butterfly. It is producing roughly 4 lpm at 30 amps per cell. I am astonished with performance and MPG increase. When I bought the truck in Jan. 2011, (before HHO) I drove it from Las Vegas to Ukiah Ca and the best MPG i got was 21 hwy. since I got home my average has been less than 18mpg. This last week (after HHO and Volo chip install) , I have seen MPG as high as 30.4 MPG on the HWY. In town I am getting an average of 23 mpg. Also, the truck runs beautifully. Lots of power when I need it and very quiet. Just thought Id let everyone know. Have a great day!

HHO or Chip?

Hello. I have recently installed a dual dry cell HHO system from HydroclubUSA and a Volo chip in my 2005 4.6L V8 Explorer XLT. I have it injected into air intake right before butterfly. Very interesting. Do you know if the improvement is due to the HHO or just the chip? My Bosch fuel injection manual states that best fuel economy occurs at lambda = 1.05 (15.4:1). This can be achieved with a custom tune, a chip that overwrites stored data tables, or an EFIE. I believe HHO users have learned that when the PCM is in closed loop the O2 sensors will negate any HHO gains unless one of the above is implemented. Have you driven the vehicle without HHO to see how much fuel savings it actually contributes? Unfortunately, when the A/F ratio exceeds 14.7:1 the nitrous oxide emissions rapidly increase due to the design of standard three way catalytic converters. Also, when the engine runs lean the combustion temperatures increase decreasing the life of cylinder valves. Fortunately, the 4.6L V8 has two knock sensors allowing the PCM to retard the ignition timing to prevent detonation.

Have not tried that yet.

2000streetrod, thats a good question. I have not yet powerd off HHO cells and ran solely on the Volo chip. I will have to reset chip and run it for a few days without HHO to see. I will also power down the chip and run solely on HHO for a day or two for comparison. I have noticed the truck running leaner just by the throttle response. Feels to be pulling more air when throttle is depressed. I am assuming that is the Volo chip patching the ecu. I will run the chip test as soon as I can and post the results.

Bump. Everything still working properly?

HHO gains

So, I had a small problem. One of the HHO dry cells o-rings popped out causing a water leak. I disconnected it and ran on one for a couple weeks. actual gains with one unit and all types of driving (hwy, city and scenic drives) were about 17 mpg (16.987) I have repaired the second unit and it is back on.

I know the Volo chip is working but not to the level i expect. It works on leaning out the engine but not much on throttle voltages. I have a map sensor enhancer i built and will install it on MAF this weekend for some tests.

I am also building a computerized map sensor enhancer using an Arduino UNO, a hydrogen sensor and a digital to analog voltage chip.

I am going to install the sensors and arduino to collect the data from MAF, ammeter voltage and Hydrogen sensor for a week or so on a laptop in the cabin. Once I have compiled the data, I can write a code for the arduino chip for ultimate gains. It will control voltage (1-5 volts) to cpu from MAF using the information from hydrogen sensor and ammeter readings. (higher amps means more HHO)

Ill keep you guys posted.

MAFAmp

I designed and built a MAF sensor amplifier (MAFAmp). I was able to adjust the MAFAmp gain in real time via a potentiometer mounted on my A pillar pod. What I quickly learned is that it only affected the A/F ratio when the PCM was in open loop or in closed loop when the fuel trim limits were exceeded. That's when I concluded that an EFIE or a custom tune was the best approach.

Volo chip installed, HHO cells on the way. I installed the chip first to see what difference it would make. Not much! I'm getting about 16MPG with just the chip. HHos will be installed next, just trying to mount them behind the front bumper. There's not a lot of extra room under the hood. I'll keep you posted.

Why are you only getting 16mpg?
