Hi How to clear codes on 1996 ford Explorer xlt and pass smog check in ca? I've already spent $$$$ and the ck engine light is back on, and all the codes are about the same. all advice would be appreciated, Thanks zendog

Welcome to this forum! Have an auto parts store read the codes. You can't clear it then it expect it to go away. The part which is causing the fault needs to be serviced.

Thanks! I already have spent over 2100.00 on it at a shop. With the promise this would fix the issues, it didn't. I going to go back and see what the owner is going to do about it. All the work has got a 3 year 30,000 mile guarantee, and he told me this would fix thx the issues, 99.9 percent sure. I am going to set up a meeting for next week.

P0171 system too lean (bank 1),P0174 system too lean (bank 2) ,P0761 shift solenoid C performance or stuck off and P1000 obd systems readiness, EVAP system monitor test not complete. they replaced intake manifold gaskets and related parts and the senior switch in the trans mission even though they knew it wasn't going to work, which i found out later talking to transmission shops in the area, it never works or very rarely. and some misc stuff not worth mentioning all with hidden costs they never told me about until it was time to pay, here none of what i would of done I would of never done the work if i knew that the code for the engine would fail my smog test because the light would still be on.
