- 2004 Ford Explorer XLT
I've had HID's installed in my 2004 Ford Explorer XLT for over a year now without any problems. Recently though, only the driver side light will come on. I have the HIDs connected using the relay harness they came with so they're connected straight to the battery. I swapped the bulbs and the ballasts to narrow the problem down but both bulbs work as well as both ballasts. I replaced the relay as well to see if that was the problem but it wasn't. I even replaced the 20A fuse for the HIDs but still nothing.
I also have a Viper remote start installed in the vehicle as well (installed a year or so before I put in the HIDs). I almost always start my vehicle with the remote start but today I started it manually and both lights worked. I think there's something with the ballasts not getting the right voltage when starting with a remote start or something along those lines. Any one know how the remote start could be interfering with the HIDs and how to fix it? Thanks!
