Around 216,500 on my SOHC 4x4 Sport. Everything is stock, nothing replaced. Even the factory limited slip works like it should. I don't drive it much anymore because of gas prices and long trips to work so I have a little car for that but I still keep it around for times when I need an suv or 4x4... Thinking about lifting it a little and making it a little more rugged since it's not going on long trips but not sure.

156,000 on my 2000 just had tranny rebulit and new thermostat housing

1998 EB Explorer 4.0 SOHC 4X4 with just over 230k.

I just bought a 1997 Explorer xlt v6 SOHC with 217k miles and runs like a champ, no leaks everything working like if it's new. I just joined this forum to find out how to's and other info

I bought my 97 explorer with 88,000 on it at the beganing of 2002. I now have about 260,000k :) running quiet and strong. I lifted it about 3 years ago on 33's I drive it back and forth to Florida from Va. :)

202200 miles 97 SOHC Running real good till it hit the 202k. developed a coolant leak near the driver side of the firewall. Can't tell where it's coming from, seems to squirt from the motor to the firewall and down to the exhaust and the original alternator quit this friday but was able to find a good used one for $25.00 and saved $140.00 on a rebuilt. Has anyone had an issue with a coolant leak in that area?

Not SOHC's, but I have a 2000 Sport with the 4.0 OHV and M5OD - 160,000 miles with nothing but routine maintenance and one intake gasket. Still runs like the day I got it in 2006 with 94,000 miles.

Also got a 1998 Explorer 4-door with the 4.0 OHV, M5OD and 4x4. The TC was showing wear so I installed a rebuilt unit, otherwise still runs great and shifts solid. 202,000 miles and counting.

149K on my OHV.... Just goes to show you that OHV are almost as good as the SOHCs, if taken care off. Gave me some problems but were easy to take care off. (knock on wood)

uh what? the OHV V6 is a trillion times better than the SOHC V6. they will run forever. see them all the time with over 300k-400k miles. never seen a SOHC with more than 240k. im a huge fan of the SOHC but its unreliable in comparison to the OHV.

392,000 km on my 99 sport. It has the 4.0 OHV.Power steering leaking now as posted earlier. The only other semi problem was the transmission valve body gasket. That was less than $300 bucks to repair.Great engine thou.Still pulls my 3000 lb boat weekly.I would think she still has at least another 100 or 200 k left in her.

185,000 on the clock 2004 EB Edition. Only issue right now is the timing chain rattle that I am trying to sort out.

Still Going Strong

363,000 miles and still going strong.

2000 Explorer XLS
4.0 OHV

151,000+ on my 01. Motor is in great shape, now if only I could keep transmissions in it.

363,000 miles and still going strong.

2000 Explorer XLS
4.0 OHV

it dont surprise me...the OHV V6 will run 400k-500k miles easily if maintained well

my 2000 XLT SOHC's timing chain let loose 2 days ago and blew the motor at 221k

298,000km on my 99 sport. the truck hasnt seen much road in the last 2 years. getting around now to fixing it back up an on the go ago. weve bought it with 145,000 on it 7 years ago. its only had synthetic oils sense then. truck still runs like a timex.

182,000 on my 97 XLT 4X4, recently bought it, it has started missing so I think it needs a tune up BAD!

Just hit 100,000 on my 2003 short sport. Runs like it just now is being broke in

236,000 miles on my 98 SOHC. I got it with about 140K and had to have the tranny rebuilt at about 145K. It's been running great until it developed a leaky fuel line going to the fuel injection rail (and no, not because I connected a jumper cable on the bracket.)
