The factory pioneer nav unit on my 07 mountaineer got a small amount of soda in it. It continued to work fine. A few days later i got this blast of static and then a high pitched loud squeal from the front right speaker. Volume control, speed of engine and even shutting the radio off had no affect. I disconnected the front right speaker and found that i was still getting it very faintly from the other speakers.
I sent the stereo out to be looked at and they tested it for 4 days and said they got no squeal. When i got it back, it was still squealing. I then bench tested it with a regulated power supply and a pair of old speakers and sure enough, there is no squeal. I put the unit back in the car and disconnected the sub woofer in the back, i still get it. I have 2 of the 3 plugs from the back of the unit disconnected and i still get the squeal. The guy at the shop said there may still be another type of module between the speakers and the unit itself. I am doubting this because i rang out the wires between the speakers and the head unit with the car off and unit disonnected and there was no resistance. (looks like the wire runs direct from the unit to the speakers) My next move is going to be to disconnect the power leads from the plug and power the unit directly from the battery.

Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on?
