Well it all started out as a good day, my friend and I were headed up to topeka to go to the street legal drag races, he was in the lead with his explorer and I was behind. He flew around the corner onto the interstate on ramp, tires screaming, and I followed suit, except I was probably going a little fast, around 50mph I think. It lost control, and I almost had it back on the road when I hit another patch of sand and it went hard to the right, down into the ditch, and I ended sliding into a tree, which I hit with my passenger side, It shattered my front passenger side window, and beat the hell out of the door. As well as the entire passenger side being scratched up, as well as the roof. Though all in all, I think I came out pretty lucky for hitting a tree at 40mph. And if the tree hadn't caught me I would probably be joining the roll over posse right now.
Now i'm sure you all want to see the pics, and well so do I, i'll post them as soon as I my friend sends them to me. Hopefully within the next couple of hours.

Edit: Here are the pics.

Man be careful! Save it for the track, you were almost there!
Glad you are okay, I know how it feels, trust me.

Yeah, I know, I was all pumped up and couldn't wait. And most of my friends will tell you I drive pretty crazy. I still took it to the track though, and they actually let me run it, which suprised the hell out of me. It's best run was only 18.069 though. I did manage to cut a .028 light though. It's all about the fun though, not the times.

40 mph into a tree and thats all you get?

At least you didn't get hurt! Those 1st gens (and I'm sure 2nd gens as well ;) ) are tanks indeed! My old red EB 92 was T-boned by a Dodge Caravan AND Ram at the same time because they were street racing and they ran a red light. My X was still drivable even after TWO side-swipes!! Heck, my fiance and I didn't even have a bruise or a scratch after the accident. I had two Dodge symbols on the side of my X until I sold it.
Most important: You are OK and you still have a great truck! Keep on running those trials, preferably on the tracks. :p ;)

where's the damage? All I see is character marks. I figured your roof was shaped like a V, could have been ALOT worse.
I can tell you I have really curbed my driving habits since I rolled my 96 two months ago....nothing like a near death car accident to remind you just how easy it is to lose control. Be safe, take this as a warning, you keep driving crazy, it will happen again :)
save it for the trail or the track, its just not worth it.

..This is the time for a parts yard to have the exact match door to bolt on !!!!

I am glad you did not put it on its roof rack!!

get a junk yard door have it painted and get a new window. it will be as good as new.

sorry to see that!

wow, it just looks like somone backed into you, you are very lucky...:0

Let me get this straight, a Caravan was racing a Ram? Now I would love to see that (on the track of course :D ).

techieman33 - Your very lucky that is all the damage you received. Keep it under control, gotta try to keep it rubber-side down.

techie I hella drive fast in my 01 sport but thank god no accidents for me. Some car today almost side wiped my but thank god it missed me. Or else I would of had some damage on the passenger side like urs.

you guys that like to drive crazy need to get a sporty car. I bought my SHO Taurus for 650 bucks, and I took it to Texas world speedway this last weekend for some hot lapping. With some race tires on it, I was passing BMW M3's, couple vetts, bunch of Miata's, mini cooper S, and a SS camaro on the 3 mile road course. Much safer and teaches you a lot about vehicle control too.

sorry to hear about the accident, however next time save the racing for the track, not the streets on the way.... losing control could have easily resulted in hitting a person, and causing death.....

It actually was pretty funny after I settled down a little bit.
Note: The ram hit me first... ;) :p

Did you find a replacement door yet? Did you have to buy a new window(is so, how uch was it?)

I haven't found a new door yet, though i'm not really looking that hard, I can't afford anything at the moment. I did replace the window, it was $150, it doesn't roll down, and rattles like crazy. Now I just hope I can find another door, hopefully one that I don't have to paint.
