I havent bought my hidden hitch yet but I have the ball that goes on it. It is a size 2. Has a 2 on the top. It says that it can handle up to 3,500 lbs. I will be towing a boat and trailer at about 3000-3300 lbs. Is this ball going to be big enuff or should I get the one that can handle 6000 lbs>? I dont know the size of that one i think it is 2 5/16. I appreciate the help.

The "2" means it's a 2" ball, which is a very common size for most towing, and the 3500 lb. rating says it should tow your up to 3300 lb. boat with no problem. Sounds like you should be alright with what you're trying to do.

You have to match the size of the receiver on the trailer to the hitch ball size.

If you have a class 3 Hidden Hitch the correct ball will have a 1" diameter shank. The ball you have is made for a class 2 hitch( I believe it has a 3/4 or 5/8 shank - this is why it is rated for 3500lbs) The 2" ball with a 1" shank is rated for 5000lbs.
