Homemade Shackles?

I am having a hard time just trying to find a sheet of 3/8" metal to buy, any ideas?

3/8" steel isn't sold by the sheet -- well, it is, but that isn't what you want. You want bar stock, which you can find almost anywhere. Check out one of the large home stores like Lowes or a local hardware store. Also check the yellow pages for steel sales. There is hardly a community that doesn't have a ready source for steel supplies somewhere. Even rural farm communities have needs like that.

I would think that anyone with the typical butt sag problem should not try to fix it with shackels. You should fix the spring problem first. This is especially true with this Sport with the mono-leaf. If you just raise it up with shackels you still have the weakened, over used mono-leaf spring. After you fix the spring problem then you'll know how much lift you need from shackels. Eatonsprings.com has a great write up explaining the problems and hazards with the mono-leaf spring. If you fix the butt sag with shackels you're only changing the appearance and the spring problem will just continue getting worse. It's like fixing a flat tire by constantly adding air.

I think the general idea in this thread is to lift the vehicle, not correct for sag. The thread starter already has the 4door leaf packs installed, not the mono leafs.........The issue of butt sag has been addressed and killed many times over on this site already.

FWIW- I picked up the cheapy universal shackles from Autozone ( I forgot the exact brand) and they are nice zinc plated 3/8" steel. I was really impressed for $20 :)

I do plan to weld a cross bar in to further support them like the warriors though.
I just put them on as well, I think I only paid $14 actually. I just went and got a other bolt for a center support. Got rid of the ass sag, which wasn't that bad anyway and my back is just a hair higher now, pics to come when I get my meats on.
