hood stuck, pull handle broke, any ideas?

Just as the title states, my hood is stuck, it looks like it is sitting a little low. We probably didnt adjust it correctly when we put it back on. and the entire t part of the handle pull is broke off. I tried vise grips, and had a couple buddies try to pull it, no bueno. I am thinging of trying to trmove the latch thru the grill. Anythoughts. Ive searched to no avail. thanks in advance for any replies..

Pull the cable while someone is pressing down HARD on the hood over the latch.

Hate to bring it up, but just unscrew the latch through the grille. I had that problem with my friend's 93 EB. I just undid the latch screws and pulled it open
