You may want to double check that before you pay for the shipping. A 94-97 Ranger hood will not fit an 1997 Explorer. The 95-01 Ranger does not share front end sheet metal with that year Explorer. You may ask them if they have a cowl hood specificaly for an Explorer and if they installed one. Ours is the only one that I have ever heard of that actualy fits.

The quality of the hoods from up22.com suck. My body guy spent 3 hours filling the nicks and sanding it before he could prime it.

Fiberglass never comes out of the mold perfect. I don't care who lays it. Anyone ever purchasing fiberglass will have to do some minor prep work to get it ready for paint. Hanneman's, Baja Concepts, and Unlimited Fiberglass all have informed me before confirming my order that prep work will be done.

It's here! It's here!

Wow, didn't expect the hood this soon. Even though they didn't call when they shipped like they said they would, I'd have to say it came faster than expected. Initial inpsection says they did a very nice job. I'm just going to finish up the underside a little bit until I get FatMat or something. The workmanship is very nice. The hood is thick and heavy duty. The front lip is about a 1/2 inch thick! Here's some pics to start. I may mount the hood tonight or tomorrow morning. Prob tonight:D .

Very nice, especially for the price. Is it lighter then the factory hood? Could you also get a pic of the front of the cowl, the part that faces the windshield? Can't wait til you get that on!

Nope, don't think so. Funny I didn't see one on your X. Perry's could learn a thing or two from these guys.

It is lighter than the factory hood. I don't know if you have noticed but the factor hood is quite heavy. Especially when the truck has 6" of lift, 35" tires, and I'm only 5'8" tall. ;)

Here's the pic of the cowl. Granted I haven't even touched the hood, except to pull it out of the box. For the price, one couldn't go wrong. Real total time I'm estimating 2 hours of prep work. Maybe more when I sit back, look, think (take a long time), drink beer:D , then work on it some more.

Oops, here's the pic:

At this point I just bolted on the hood. I haven't even adjusted anything yet. My Wife and I took a couple of minutes to align the hood with the fenders. I still need to tweak it a little more but everything lines up well. Nicely made hood. Fits the contours of the X well. I should have the hood pins installed tomorrow and started on the rear fiberglass.

I like it. From the looks it looks like a big help for functionality. When are you getting it painted?

I'll get everything painted when I finally finish alll the fiberglass.

Had it since the end of April just never got around to takin pics of it. But I'll repeat myself by saying their quality of hoods sucks and the instructions said light sanding then paint which was not the case at all. I also ordered it March 15 and didn't recieve it until the weekend of Easter (April 20) and since then I know of at least 3 people (2 of which are in ECX + you) who have ordered them since so maybe they got some more practice on them, who knows.
