horrible oil and plugs..

...we should be kind enough to respect one another's opinions and not get in arguments
I agree with you on folks having more tolerance for opinions. However, we should clarify the difference between an opinion and a fact. "I like Fram oil filters because they are orange and come with that neat grippy stuff on the end!" is an opinion, and I leave that alone. "There is no difference between a Fram oil filter and any other" is not an opinion, and is wrong. Spreading of misinformation is a major issue with the internet, and letting incorrect facts go because they are "opinion" makes matters worse for everyone.

i look at it this way if the fram i use does fail then fram will be paying for a new engine
Good luck getting any oil filter company to take ownership of your engine after it fails.

Joe- Did you catch the statement about Bosch:bsnicker:

im partial to bosch too. anything bosch is pretty damn good at a decent price too.

Well, no, an oil filter is not an oil filter; but here we go again... No sense in retyping everything again. Search for Fram filters and read the info already here. No sense in harping on another argument- if wanacustomx is happy with his choices, that's cool. I'll post some new vids in another Fram thread.

Nice job Joe. You should be a politician.

celly (biting my tongue several times in this thread) :D

I have refrained from commenting in this thread for weeks, but I guess it's time to.

I always laugh when the oil filter police come out.

First reason is, I have never seen an oil filter "fail" in my entire life. In my car or anyone elses car. I know some oil filters are constructed better, but does it matter??? Do we need oil filters constructed like Fort Knox? I dont think so......

The MAIN reason I find it comical is that almost without fail, if you look in the sig of an Oil Filter Policeman you will inevitably see the words "CAI" or "K&N" .

It is amusing to me that the same people who cut open oil filters and berate others for using "lesser" oil filters have no problem strapping on a CAI or K&N filter that is letting all kinds of debris and contaminants into their engines. Test your oil if you don't beleive me.

A plain old paper Fram air filter will filter better then any high flow, oiled filter you can strap to your engine intake.

Why are you people so **** about oil filters, but not air filters? If you TRULY cared about keeping your engine "clean" the first thing you should do is take the CAI's and K&N's out of your cars.

Not trying to fight, just sticking up for Fram guy because I think you people are being hypocritical in your mocking of him.

I don't see a K&N or CAI in my truck. Never have, never will- they're pointless on their own. But I have seen filter failures.

I presented a bunch of information and vids in the other thread. If paper end caps, uncrimped media, no anti-drainback valve and less media is worth a $1 risk, so be it. I'm not judging anyone, I'm just saying that for me, $1 every 3-4 months isn't a big deal for me to run what I personally think is a better option. I choose to use another filter, that's all.

Hell- this has now progressed into another Fram thread, so HERE is the other post with vids.

Joe- btw two of the videos don't work

I've used a CAI for years in two Explorers. I use an Amsoil Ea filter in the setup (non-oiled). I use Amsoil Signature Series oil and Ea filter. I change my oil once a year. The oil is always very clean. If Amsoil is going to stand behind their oil and filter for one year and 25,000-35,000 miles, I'm more than happy to do so given that I drive a fraction of that in a year.

Late EF poster "Aldive" used the same oil/filter and a MAC intake and did get UOAs done on his truck all the time and posted the results. Always came back spotless. He used an Amsoil air filter in the setup when they came out too.

Just had my annual change done yesterday actually. I've had comments in the past how clean the oil looks. I've never had a UOA done, but I'm confident the air and oil filtration in my truck is doing it's job.

To each his/her own. I used to think Fram was the cat's ass.....until I did my homework years ago. Lots of horror stories about Fram products out there. It was eye opening for me. Same with Bosch plugs.

I don't care much for K&N filters either (or any oiled filter).

What's wrong with Bosch plugs?!?

:D

Just a thought

Good marketing does not always reflect the quality of a product. Personally I use Wix filters and I never heard or seen an advertisement for them. The research I've done has shown me they are very good filters. My research also tells me that Fram filters are low quality. (Not an opinion, a fact)...'nuff said.

wah... if you look in the sig of an Oil Filter Policeman you will inevitably see the words "CAI" or "K&N" ....

Well that refers to either me or celly here, and if you read what we both posted before you, I think both comments where benign. Never had any experiences with Fram and never had any issues with my oil from running an fipk. After reading some of the material raised here, I feel confident in sticking with the Motorcraft filter.

You've got bigger issues to deal with, manjina- if you wouldn't have torqued the hell out of your frame with a Henson tuned SCT, you wouldn't have cracked your rear applique... :D

We use Wix air filters in my wife's Subaru. We get them from Amsoil as they don't make an Ea filter for the '00 Outback.

They seem to be of great quality. No problems noted.

Her car also gets Signature Series oil and Ea filter. :)

I feel confident in sticking with the Motorcraft filter.

You'll rarely go wrong with OEM in our trucks. :)
