Ok here is the background. 97 Sport, 5 speed.
Problem:
Sometimes when I accelerate from stop or on the run, in any gear, the X stumbles, jerks a few times until the motor and tranny get up to the same speed. It seems that the clutch is slipping as it tries to accelerate.
The transmission was completely rebuild 7k miles ago (clutch, slave, all bearings, flywheel resurface, NOT the master, though). However, the new slave blew out about 3 weeks ago and was replaced. Everything seemed to be working fine for about 1.5 weeks, but over the last 1.5 weeks this slip/stumble developed and seems to be getting worse. I filled the X with premium Shell gas to make sure it was not bad gas. Added fuel cleaner. all with no help.
Is there anything that could have happened during the new slave install that could cause this? improper bleeding? anything?
I need help guys. I would appreciate it.

if i rember right, the slave on the x is internal, it is possible that it was not installed properly or is leaking, that would make the clutch plates very slick and hard to get a good grab on... thus experiencing slip... also a lot of aftermarket replacement parts seem to be defective from the factory... which sucks, but thats how things seem to be in the real world

The first replacement slave was a aftermarket. After discussing the problem with the mech that fixed the tranny in the first place, he said that the aftermarkets were crap. So I replaced it with a OEM from Ford this time.
I don't think it is leaking since I am not losing fluid. Do you have any tests or tips i can perform to diagnosis?

how is the adjustment? i know on my yota that if the slave isnt put on right, that it wont completely engage the shift fork

I have no idea. I am very familiar with most parts of the X, but parts inside the tranny (ie, the internal slave) I am not. I am not sure if there is an adjustment.

Does anyone have any checks or tests that I can perform to diagnosis my clutch problem. I really need some help!
