On my 94 X when I have the headlights on, the switch itself gets noticeably hot over time (faster on high beams) and the headlights at some point begin to flicker on and off or just quit. Everything's stock. Can the switch be rebuilt or do I need a new one, or what? Possibly a high draw on the system for some reason? I do think one of my headlamps may have a loose connection, as in the past jiggling the passenger side connector would temporarily fix the issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

On 1st. Gen. (91-94) Xs the headlight switch is a weak point. I would replace it.
You may have two problems if the headlight/bulb connector is loose also. Changing both doesnt sound like a bad idea.

Thanks, a new Ford part would be best? Or are there options? Junk yard parts here cost the same amount as new ones from the dealer.

New headlight switch. OEM. Bulb connector? Any thats better than yours, if yours is bad, is OK.

Thanks! I will talk to my buddy at the Mazda dealer and get some parts on the way.

I said OEM but I should have said "new". NAPA or other parts stores should have switches also.
