Well, I hate to say it, but I think that leaves you out for Crown King. I don't think a 2wd with no locker would make it.

I know a 2wd with locker made it.. Alec did the run with a supercharged 4.0 2wd w/ locker years ago. He would need a strap on the one spot w/out the bypass but otherwise I think a 2wd with a locker could make it, but it wouldn't be a finess run :)

so i guess this is just sorta fading off anyone still interested in getting one going

Im still in for a Saturday run. Cant lead, but I can follow real well.

Wow, I haven't seen you around for a while.. I see you got a new rig...

Have you done anything to it yet?

As for a Saturday run, I'd love to do crown king (there is just something about that run makes it fun every time).

I can even lead it now (scary isn't it)..

I'd have to have a few weeks notice for a run (I'm working on a garage/carport/shed on the weekends) but I'm up for one.

Yep, I pop in here from time to time. Its actually my 3rd Explorer. Had the 94 you all saw, then a 2000 sport, now an 05 XLT. Ive added a nav system, and it has larger Big O AT tires. I plan on getting BFG AT KOs when these things wear out. Other than that, its stock.

Lets plan a run for Saturday 4/21. That gives everyone enough time to plan ahead. It should not be too hot yet.... Hopefully.

I picked 4/21 out of the air. Is that summer enough? If not, maybe we all can either change the date, or do a cool down run around flag in June or July.

How about running Lake Pleasant to Crown King asap, and then go up and visit dirtyx in the summer for a run at the Cinder Hills:D

A lifted X has no advantage at the cinders. Horsepower, flotation and traction wins the day there.

I remember cinders.. I almost made it up, but got scared.. Now that I've been to Glamis and have done oldsmobile hill and competition hill I shouldn't have pucker problems at the cinders..

I'm good for the Crown king run.. either 4/21 or earlier (I just need a few weeks notice). I'll hold off on swapping in the new to me motor until after the crown king run (I see to always have something apart when an AZ run comes up).

I've loved to go but rigs is not even close to being ready.

Is that summer enough?

I should be home in mid May and prob leaving by Aug. I havent done many trails in AZ but Broken Arrow and Soldiers Pass in Sedona would be lots of fun. Hopefully Ill get my gears soon so my A4ld not die as fast.

ok breaking down and gunna put the truck on ebay as last resort i have to get rid of this to get the x

Hey guys, I got really excited when I saw this thread. I've never been extreme offroading yet. I went with my dad up the front side of Crown King with his stock 93 2wd, but we didn't go all the way up because his transmission overheated and we lost at least 6 quarts of transmission fluid (pretty sad for the front side). Thankfully someone came along and took us up to a store where we bought every single quart of tranny fluid they had. Back to what I was saying, I just bought a 94 4wd with a bad tranny from a dealership. The new transmission is almost in, but its taking a long time since I am doing it all myself (I actually do all my own work). I would like to go on a run somewhere when I get this all together, and after I get my license. Maybe something easy like Reddington Pass here in Tucson (since it is only a couple miles away from me). I cant think straight right now because I am so excited about my car being almost finished.

Ive never done Lake Pleasant to Crown King. Can a stocker make that? I dont want any damage, but am willing to try some slightly more difficult stuff.

Im open on most Saturdays. 3/31, 4/7, and 4/14 are all open.

Remember, your truck is way more capable than mine, I dont want you to get bored leading me around.

I'd be interested, but in the same stocker boat... ;)

I wish I knew the condition of the trail:(The backway has been different every time I've went. When bad, I would say no way without some damage, when it's in good shape I could see a stock Ex making it with no problem.
