How do I tell if I have a busted auto lock hub?

OK stupid question. How do I tell if one of my automatic locking hubs is busted?

Mr Shorty - thanks. That explains why I didn't find it during a thread search - it was buried in a thread.

That part of that post should be removed and sticky'd so others can find it.
