The one in the side of the oil pan or the one in the side of the engine block?
One is low oil level (in the pan) the other is oil pressure, I assume you are trying to install a oil pressure gage so you need the one in the block, near the power steering pump?
BE VERY CAREFUL with the unit that threads into the block, it is a tappered fitting and overtightening it can crack your engine block, ask me how I know....
as soon as I bought the other unit it was all too easy....it works now all be it still an off on analog guage...oh well it was bugging me that the needle was just laying there
lol just for future reference to ppl serching, i took the unit out of the fitting, not the fitting out of the block when i was switching to a mechanical oil pressure gauge
Since you have pulled the sendor once.. you can convert that from a analog idiot light to a real gauge easily...
Just get a Ford Sending unit (I usually tell uneducated counter people that must look everything up) to just give me one off a mid 80's ford truck. You will know if it is the right one since the new one will be much wider..
If you just put it in, your gauge will now move according to the actual pressure, BUT it will be low/slow.
Search for fake oil pressure and you will find a thread that talks about how to convert (modify) you oil pressure gauge to work faster/more accurately. It is easy to do, but at least change the sending unit to make it someone accurate.
I don't know if I am that worried about it moving as per the pressure...maybe when the weather is warmer I'll get another one and then take the dash apart to to remove the resistor...I don't know
