I'm curious how long Ford's recalls are good for. The hinges on the rear glass of my '01 Ex stripped out today, good thing the glass didn't hit the ground. I see there's a recall #50924 for 2000-2002 Explorer glass hatch hinges, but it was posted in 2004. Think its still good?:exp:

if its still an open recall on your vehicle, you can call a local ford dealer and ask for any outstanding recalls. they just need your vin.

as far as i know recalls dont end, less they been done already.

Well, Ford said that the recall does not include my vehicle. Motor Trend's website said the recall includes Explorers made from Aug. 2000-April 2002. Ford knows best!!

Possibly true (ford knows best) as the recall has a specific start date.... thus it is possible from your VIN that they know that your vehicle was (might have been) built before aug 2000.... maybe.... even though you have a "2001 vehicle".... that's the model year not the necessarily the build year. Of course, ford (and others) have been known to "play" with "recall affected vehicle status" to most likely limit their costs... a good one that keeps (kept) getting larger is the infamous speed control that started with a few years and vehicles and grew "large scale".

It was probably for Sports

if its a safety recall (like the cruise switches, or better example, 2000ish taurus were bad for breaking coil springs) there is no "close date". but on other things, "like the timing chain tensioners), they had to be done in a certain amount of time
