hey, my battery was dead this morning from my fog lights being on all night (oops). There was still enough juice to run the stereo, but not much else. The truck was jumped and is idling right now. How long do I need to let it idle to charge it up enough?

Usualy it`s pretty fast to recharge but what I would do if I where you is to take a ride in order to rev it normaly. At least 10 miles, you should be ok after that.

sorry guys, but my truck is idling down in the parking lot.

bump

ok thanks, i guess i'll just go drive a bit and hopefully i have enough gas!

If you drive it around for a bit like daniel mentioned, then leave it over night and it doesnt start again or give you a hard time starting, i would get another battery b4 you blow up your ALT.

When you drive it, keep ALL the accessories (Including lights) off so you don't put any drain on the battery. That'll help it charge faster. If the battery is in good condition but just drained, driving it normally should recharge it. I'd let it run for at least half an hour before you shut it off. After that, you should be good to go, but keep the accessory use to a minimum for a day or two.

I let it idle for 25 mins then drove about 15 miles. Stopped, started it again and drove for another 6 miles to go get gas. Everything is good. I know to keep stuff off for now. Thanks!

BTW, it's a good battery, just partially drained. If it doesn't start tomorrow or sometime this week I'll go get it checked and maybe replaced (still under warranty).
