how much to rebiuld an engine??

i'm curious how much with would cost to completely rebiuld an engine new seals and everything??

because i was thinking that if i'm gonna have to take my engine out of the engine bay to change the oil pump i should probobly rebiuld it while i'm at it.

would my tranny on 98 sport 4.0 sohc hold up to a 5.0??
I would love to swap out my engine if thats would be easier and cheaper for a 5.0 i don't really care for the 4.0..

or should I look at remanufactered ford motors...
give me some opinions and options that you think are worth while.

i want more preformance from the new engine and would love a 5.0 if it's ain't gonna rip everything apart in the drive train.

oh yeh tomorrow i'm draining the oil and dropping the pan, to see where the hell my oil pump is.

No I don't believe that the Tranny will hold up to the 5.0. As for a total rebulid, the least ya want to do is replace the oil pump (of course), then i would do the main barings, front and rear main seals, timing chain, and pull the pistons while you have the crank out, and re-ring them. , Anything after that you can always do with the engine in.
