how to find out what month my 97 was built?

went down to get new plugs and wires (97 XLT, AWD, 5.0) and they said they needed to know what month it was built. is this when they switched from cap to coil packs or something? anyway, does anyone know how to tell what month it was built? thx

an explorer v8 never had a cap, all have coil packs. Your parts guy is wanging you.

The driver door has a label with all the info. Build date is there.

thanks man, i will try a different place tomorrow. (coincidentally it was the same guy that sold me a 98 prop shaft for a 97, which was still popping)

really there is a difference in something about early and late year builds on the 97's.

I had the same thing asked to me when I did it in mine. and there is some kind of bulletin on it.

in the end they still gave me v-6 wires when I have a v-8.

autozone has Accel wire sets with the same part number.

one set is a custom set for the 5.0 v-8 and the other set is a factory made set for the v-6.

so check your wires before you leave the store. make sure you have a set for an eight cylinder
