tools needed: rathcet and extension, phillips head screwdriver
front bumper: remove screws on underside of wheel well towards the front. pull flaps down to access bolts holding bumper in place. remove bolts attaching bumper on top and underneath at bottom of radiator.
rear bumper: remove tail lights screw that are accessed when back hatch is open. remove tailights then bolts holding bumper in place. IMPORTANT: slide bumper upwards or you will break plastic brackets holding it in place.
EDIT if more processes, it has been a while since i have removed my rear bumper.

thanks guys

post pictures once you do this! i am thinkin about doing this over the spring time..good luck

yea post up some pics, i got a blue expo with the plastic grey trim, i hate the plastic it looks cheap, so post up some pics, and the cost and process of painting them... thanks

Yea no problem. Ill be posting pics hopefully early next week after paint. Just to let you guys know my trim was already the factory painted grey. I'm going with black though

was it the finished grey or the rough cheap plastic like mine is?:)

It is the finished plastic. My factory colors were black with grey trim but I'm blacking everything out.

Pickup a repair manual (Haynes would be fine), it explains in detail how to do it correctly, and with pictures to accompany the instructions.

I bought the Chilton's manual, lots of detail for removing the front bumper but the instructions for removing the rear bumper are useless !! For removing the rear bumper it starts by stating, "remove the screws or clips and detach the bumper cover". There are no pictures showing where the screws or clips are. When I lifted the tailgate it revealed a line of platic clips that go through the bumper cover into the body ... I have removed all of those but the bumper cover is still firmly attached !!

Where are the other "screws or clips" that I need to undo to remove the bumper cover ?

take out the tail lights. you will see some screws to take out under the bottom of the light.

there are 4 bolts that are only accessible when the taillights are out. There is the row of clips along the top of the bumper cover. There are also two little screws(one on either side) underneath just behind the wheel wells. once all those clips/screws are out, pull directly up on either side(the ends of the bumper cover have a slot connecter to hold the ends in place.) the bumper should come off now. I just pulled mine off today to paint the grey trim. if you have any question just ask.

jawillou..let me know how that works out for ya..painting that is..I am thinking about doing this in the spring..post some picts when you are done :)

here are some pics on a thread i created earlier... I hadn't done the rear bumper at the time but it is complete now. I haven't taken any pictures since i painted the rear bumper. I also plan on doing the frame cover under the doors at some point here soon too. I am also planning on repainting the trim that's on the upper part of the doors. I will post pictures as i go along.
