I found my A/c to not be working and when i checked pressures found it empty. Added refrigerant and heard a distinct hissing noise coming from the evap core. It looks like it is pretty simple to replace the Evap since it is mounted in a box on the fire wall. Has anyone done this job and have pointers?

I did it, with the heads off the engine. There are some awkward screws to get to at the bottom. Need to remove the blanket first to see the screws. If it's not wanting to come off, you've missed a screw.

And don't break the housing forcing it or you won't have a good seal.

I did it once and it wasn't "that bad". It did take 2 people as there were a few bolts/nuts that required 1 person under the dash and another outside.

It was more than a few years ago so I can't give much more info other than I remember going through the fender made things much easier (I don't run inner fender liners) since the heads kinda get in the way of your arms.
